They should have made Faerin’s shield a construct made from the Light. That’s literally the idea behind the Lightsmith hero talents. It would have been neat to see a hero talent represented on an npc. Plus a lot of people take issue with the physics of how she uses her shield. Having it simply be magic is a good way around that.

The idea of the Lightsmith is that you’re augmenting people’s weapons and armor with temporary constructs. The only paladin we’ve seen permanently using a Light weapon is Turalyon, and I don’t think Faerin is meant to be on his level of skill and experience (she’s still a quite junior paladin, all things considered).
That said, there’s still time for the ol’ super sentai mid-season upgrade with new merchandise. Maybe in The Last Titan she’ll get a Light shield and laser eyes.

Really it only needs to be as temporary or permanent as a scene calls for. And she’s as skilled or unskilled as the writers say she is. It wouldn’t exactly make a difference if they said she was able to do it. She is established to be extremely strong in faith after all. It would just be a cool visual representation of that faith. I mean think about that cinematic we saw her in, where she is gearing up. What an awesome money shot it would be if at the end of it we see a sheild of pure light manifest where her arm should be.

If the choice is between a character who accurately, realistically, and believably responds and provide reasoning like that of someone who have lost an arm and live as such … versus a “magical light-shield lady”, I’m gonna opt for the believable character.
Put simply, no. Faerin as a “magical shield-girl” wouldn’t make her character better it would have made it demonstrably worse by several magnitudes.

Yes, and they’ve said that she’s a junior paladin with limited experience in the field. She’s deliberately not in the same world-class category as a lot of the other characters we run around with. I don’t see what’s so complicated about this idea.

Might as well make her a hand made out of light. If Khadgar can get a new whip, probably the brown lady could get a hand.

I’d rather not give something else for people to complain about. Imagine the uproar if a completely new overpowered character somehow had “Hero” talents as well.

I remember seeing one questline (think it was the one towards the cinematic where Alleria shot the Dark Heart) where Faerin summoned a giant light shield to protect us and I’m like… sis you need to use that more…

They need to redo her equipment entirely. Her shield is so stupid and makes no sense. Her using a jousting lance as a 1 handed sword is also stupid.

It’s been mentioned many times that weapon animations make so little sense in context to how a weapon is supposed to be wielded. My all-time favorite are NPCs using a rapier by hitting enemies with the side of the blade (which would snap it in half.)
