I am at the family house for the holidays and wont be playing for another day or so and after reviewing some posts i got myself to thinking about my own resto sham rotation.
Just mentally put myself in a 1v3 scenario and I made myself sad remembering that we no longer have nightfae’s big beautifly purple blue drag the black sparkley soul out of you aoe damage spell anymore.
This ability felt like a very shaman mobe and it fit so well within the rotation.
It became my favorite part of playing shaman.
Honestly my favorite parts of being a shaman were the night fae abilities to quick flash move/shaoeshift and drop the Fae Transfusion aoe.
Without them I have all but stopped playing my shaman.
It will be remembered by me as one of the best abilities we have had the pleasure to use over the years. You will be missed.
Personally I hated Fae Transfusion. In terms of class theme/fantasy it was way off the mark.
Shamans shouldn’t be draining life. It would have been a very cool spell for Warlocks, however.
I get it was strong in some cases and fun to use, so people started to like it, but it really felt way off theme to the extent where I am almost certain that it was originally the Warlock’s Ardenweld spell but got shifted over since they can actually come up with ideas for Warlock things and never know what to do with Shamans.
Fae Transfusion good but wasn’t a ‘real’ AoE ability. It split damage. It was more of a single-target ability that had a difficult use-case where the target also had to be alone.
Damn was the damage on it really high if a single target was stuck in it for the duration though.
I kinda wish they changed primordial wave a little so it fit better in the talent tree at least. Actually I wish they did that with all of the carried over covenant abilities. Why do shamans have Shadow damage? Warriors have a paladin ability in Spear of Bastion? Monks have Bonedust Brew? and Faeline Stomp?
Keep the actual abilities if you want but at least rebrand them a little so they make more sense for the class… Primordial wave is pretty easy, just change the damage type and the palette of the projectile a bit. Spear could be an actual chain instead of a magic effect. Etc.
Yeah really missing those covenant abilities right now… i guess they still work in shadowlands which is kind of cool. Wish you could use them in arenas and bgs though
