Faction transfers for cata

I currently play alliance on Arugal and the server population and distribution has been in a steady decline for a while now. I am planning on playing Cata, but as the only real choice for oceanic (Australian btw) I am worried I might have to faction swap to have a good experience. I have a lot of alts however, and if I wanted to transfer all my characters it would cost me $254 AUD for 2x of the 6 char transfer pack. I am not going to do this. Unless it is reasonable I wont transfer any of them ($40 for 10-12 instead of 1 for example). Previously when servers have died there have been free server transfers (with some conditions) so in the case of death or near-death of a faction i would like there to be free or EXTREMELY reduced cost of faction transfers. While this should be the case for any server, i especially feel it should be the case for Arugal and those like it, the only server with a viable population with decent ping for Australians. Probably wont happen, but for sure wont happen if not asked for =)

There will probably be another wave of merge or free transfers before cata, well hopefully.

Hopefully the population will increase with Cata’s launch. Lots of people are over WotLK Classic and SoD didn’t help.

I’d say wait for some time after Cataclysm launches, it should give you a better picture so you end up making the best choice… You probably know what happened with the P H R E S H servers back at the start of Wrath of the Arthas after the populations settled
People are mostly raid logging or jumped on SoD bandwagon anyway.

Going to be rough with the decline in pop once cata does drop, there will be a small increase followed by steady decline like seen during uld. But if they do wrath era and its a fresh taking what they learned by making the gamnas drop gear for catch up but not making raids like ony and trial irrelevant when icc drops. Having a shorter uld phase and maybe do something like have boa badges to keep tanks interested in that kind of thing.

I would think that horde would be the pve faction in wrath and then the pvp faction in cata is something, sort of like how if they do a tbc plus by 2026 we would probably see 75% or so horde. I am not sure I want to play the expansion which makes you old, My cata toons might provide passive income and pay for the sub as cata raids will not be difficult for those buying hard carries.

For a good solution make a horde on a low pop server level to 55 fast make a dk there and be ready for server consolidation once the expansion hits. I think they might make a lot if wrath was made accessable with a clone fee afterwards as one case of their ‘no current plans for wrath’ still with the wow token the amount of money an expansion can make is determined by the number bought and they have not released the sales for the token before and after nov4.

Like Zoumz said above, just hold off until the day of Cata launch or shortly after.

There was a wave of 30% discounts for Xmas. I bought a race change for my main, as I will be swapping to Worgen.

Spring sale is a thing for Blizzard. Around Easter iirc.
