So the devs said the whole point of the additional activation slots was to help mitigate the RNG nonsense, but by excluding the vendor gear, they basically are giving us a middle finger. #multidollarcompany

I don’t know what you are talking about but it sounds like extra chances at something and that does mitigate RNG.
They gave each Dom shard bonus to a second slot for each of the three types. So for leather, that means that gloves now also activate the unholy bonus. This, however, does NOT apply to the gloves you can buy in Korthia–and that is by design. When we already can’t get the leather gloves to drop from raid, the “fix” does nothing for us.

yes well this is one reason why I didn’t play this expansion for 10 months, they have to make everything so complicated.

Yes, the changes mitigated rng by adding additional options but allowing you to straight up buy the bonus would eliminate the rng completely which is dumb.

Uh… no. It gives you the option of getting the gloves OR the helm. It literally doubles your chances.
I still think either just having 3 frost equipped should have just activated the power regardless of the slot or have another ui (similar to heart of azeroth)
But oh well.

Still rocking 2 empty slots on this character because I’m afraid of socketing something dumb just to do it and then messing up my piece. It isn’t as though I’m so cutting edge that adding a random one just to do it would likely even be noticeable.
You know you can get the chisel from the bone smith for 2500 Stygian, yeah?
Is it reusable because first I don’t know if I have that much and second I’ve been doing everything in 9.1 and forum rumors are all I’ve heard of it. Will definitely give it a look regardless.
The chisel is reusable. As for Stygia, check your amounts - you get Stygia from killing a lot of Korthia mobs, and, of course, by doing the twice/week assaults. You also get a bunch by doing Ve’nari’s dailies and killing Maw mobs. Not to mention, you get 20 per soul rescued at the start of each week.
It adds up. There’s a good chance you have more than you think.

I agree that the vendor gear should also activate the set bonus, and was shocked that it does not.
The hotfix just made things even more complicated: Now we have pieces for slots that activate set bonuses but don’t have sockets, as well as pieces that have sockets but don’t activate set bonuses even though they are the slots that are supposed to.
The hotfix surely helped some players, but did nothing for any of my toons that still have 3 sockets but no activating piece.
No, there would be no straight up buying of the bonus. Even if the vendor gear was hotfixed to be able to activate the set bonuses, you would still need to obtain two more pieces with sockets from the raid, and socket pieces drop less often than the other pieces.

Exactly! Between the need for the shards, and the embers to upgrade them + the sockets and all that, the least they could do it make it so all dom socket gear was treated equally.
