Faction queue!

I get layering is an option, but how about fixing the faction inbalance at the same time rather than allowing transfers to a faction inbalance server its really silly.

a massive queue would encourage people to stop dog piling the high pop servers with more of the same faction and of course we’d still have 60/40 but it wouldn’t be 80/20.

its a good idea that has been mentioned a bunch of times but could you really see blizzard making a change that will disgruntle the majority (horde) of its subscriber base?

Dude. It didn’t stop them at all. Galaxy brains were still transferring into full servers.
Blizz was way late in stopping that. Probably because they thought no one in their right mind would be dumb enough to transfer to a full server.
Carebears:Hold my beer, servers with 4x Vanilla pops are dying…smh

I love the idea of a faction queue… for brand new servers. It would be absolutely horrible for existing servers.

It’s only a good idea, if you buy into that sort of thing. I personally don’t. But, who cares about my opinion?

I have never had a login Q

No.

The vast majority of players want a PvE playstyle with a PvP title.

I care.

Deeply.

I agree faction based queue would be nice

This is definitely something they should have planned before they opened the first server. When someone tried to roll on an imbalanced server, they should have gotten a message:

The faction you have selected to roll a character for has more characters than the opposing faction. Your options are:

  • Continue and create this character. You should expect a login queue when you try to play that character.
  • Create a character of the opposing faction. We do not anticipate a login queue.
  • Look for a different server.

Instead they decided to balance populations across servers by providing free transfers, which were overwhelmingly minority faction members. That just made it worse. I can’t blame people for acting in their own self-interest in what was clearly a bad situation though.

You can’t do this after people have invested so much time into their Horde characters, unless you also somehow offer free or heavily discounted faction changes.

It’s something they should consider if they open fresh tbc servers. I think classic is to far gone for a change like that.

Yeah self interest is really high in picking the dog pile server because its basically pve for them this way, meanwhile the alliance suffer… i wished pvp was going to be server locked so dog pilers got even more punished.

prepare for 90% horde in tbc… we have seen it on every tbc pserver ever. in tbc faction unbalance is way worse than classic

It’s hard to find accurate info about server populations. But every site I’ve seen suggests a 50-50 split, over the entire subscriber base. Both in retail and in Classic.

Individual servers may be very imbalanced, of course.

Did Blizzard say this? Did Blizzard say that balancing factions was their purpose?

I’ve never seen anything from Blizzard saying they were balancing factions.

are there any large PvE servers that have queues? arent they mostly pvp servers that are struggling with them and those realms are largely horde favoured i believe

I couldn’t agree more with this.
