I’ve been playing Alliance since returning to WoW in Legion but my heart has always been with the Horde since vanilla. I had to start a new account for some reason I legitimately can’t remember and that’s when I chose Alliance.
The reason I want to switch and just not create a new toon is because there are years of achievements with my Alliance main. I have every possible reputation to exalted and the thought of grinding all that out again gives me a headache.
I have every quest in every zone of every expansion done on my Alliance main, so I know I’ll have to do the Horde variants of all those over, and I’m okay with that, but I know there’s probably other things I’m not considering right now, so I turn to those with experience.
Has anyone ever faction changed and then regretted it down the road after the refund window had passed?
My buddy one days says i moved all my chars to horde i HATE alliance move your chars if you want to still play with me. Long story short i paid for 52 faction changes for him to them move back to Alliance – Horde for life now darn him i hate Horde but no way am i paying for another 50+ faction changes and i cant live without playing all of my chars!!
There were no serious consequences to faction swapping my main years ago. It used to be that reputations could be kind of wonky, but Blizzard resolved that issue a long time ago. The only consequence I can think of is possibly needing to pay for another faction swap if you choose to do so later.
If you have a lot of time and sentiment invested into your main and you’re looking to go horde, I’d say that’s good enough reason to faction swap.
Started as Alliance, and switched to Horde not long after. Whenever I see a human paladin with the word “light” in their name I know I made the right choice.
I made a horde character and leveled her to about 30 to see if it was something I would want to play back in vanilla. Decided naw and never looked back.
I kept her and will level her up each expansion just to see the horde side, but I have no desire to main a horde character.
There’s a refund option? A month or so ago I switched my Pally from BE to Draenai. Hated it. I dont like the walk or clip clop. As soon as I could transfer back, I did. Im waiting for NE or VE to do a permanent switch. But $60 out the window.
Yeah, I think if you request a refund within 72 hrs they’ll revert the faction change. You will lose everything you did with the new faction, but at least you’ll be back to where you were before. I’m trying to avoid that by listening to people’s anecdotes.
I haven’t faction changed but I have made horde characters. I don’t regret making them but I’ll be switching back to alliance characters once TWW comes out with cross server guilds. I was only horde since my raiding guild is horde on a different server. Soon I’ll be able to stay on moonguard as alliance and raid with them!
At the end of Warlords, I created like 6 alts on Horde, went hard on those during Legion. Most of my Mage Tower achieves are on Horde alts I can never delete now.
Mid-BFA I decided to stop kidding myself and to give in to my love of dwarves. So I can’t really go back to horde in earnest. Also, whenever I play a blelf, it goes from “ugh, you look so good in that transmog” to " ugh, your combat animations are so dumb" .
I am a hordie through and through. Orcs and undead especially. Problem is these days, I only rp. PvP days and progression raiding are long behind me. The issues lies with horde rp being crap. They only do it in the ugliest part of the uglies city, and WRA has so much unnecessary drama. So, I play alliance.
All I ever see on Alliance, especially in pvp, is “waaghghagh we can’t win because we won’t stop typing about how bad everybody else is and making jokes about their mom, so instead of actually accomplishing anything I will just sit here and keep dying and expecting the healer to heal me from the other side of the map”
Seriously, I was alliance main for 12 years. NONSTOP. CRYING. EVERY. BATTLEGROUND. EVER. ALWAYS.
Holy crap the alliance is selfdefeating in virtually every battleground I went into.
And now its happening on the horde, but in my favour. I go into a BG and the Alliance is still crying in their chat, only now I can’t hear it because it’s hard to hear them crying over teh sound of my team actually playing the game and winning.
Since switching, I have actually increased my global (13 max level characters) win-rate in unranked bgs as well as a higher winrate in arena.
The only regret is the server I am on. 97% alliance, so its a ghost town on horde. But still better than constantly hearing the alliance whine about how paladin isn’t doing 25% more damage than everybody else again so Blizzard needs to buff LOL.
Now, don’t get me wrong though. Trust me, the same stuff happens on the Horde.
It’s all about quantity. It’s more “rare item quality” vs “grey item from every mob”
Alliance gets more, horde gets less.
