So after getting to 120 on my alliance Priest and completing all the zone quests and spending a lot of my time grinding reputation, getting flight paths, and unlocking Mythic Dungeons I decided I had to faction change to find the right guild for me to raid with this expansion.
Upon faction changing from Alliance to Horde, I realized that my achievement for the Alliance Chapter quests did not convert to the Horde equivalent and I also have zero flight paths even though I unlocked most if not all of the flight paths while on Alliance.
The flight paths are not as much of an issue but it directly says in the FAQ for the faction change support thread that flight paths will be transferred to the opposing faction equivalents.
The main issue I have with the faction change is that I know have to complete the chapter quests on Horde to be able to do King's Rest even though I already unlocked the Alliance equivalent before transferring. This is no small task either. From what I can see, I have to do over 300+ quests to complete all of the requirements to unlock one single dungeon on Horde. This isn't a design issue as most people will be doing these 300+ quests while leveling a character from 100 to 120. I however, as a faction transfer, have already done all of this from 100 to 120 on the Alliance.
I now have to complete ALL of these Horde quests just to be able to unlock a single dungeon and the war campaign as well.
NO WHERE does it say that this will happen before faction changing on the FAQ. I did a ton of research to make sure I wouldn't waste 30 dollars transferring to Horde to just be reset at 0 progress again. If this were the case, it would be better just to level a new character to 120 so at least the mindless questing of over 300 quests would also be for experience as well. But nope, I'm stuck doing all these quests just for a single unlock because they don't consider all of the alliance progress the same as the Horde progress.
I am extremely frustrated because I transferred factions to find a guild that would be perfect to raid with here in the coming weeks but now I am set back to square one and I have to work really hard just to do all of the Horde content now to stay competitive.
Again, if this was stated clearly before the transfer, I wouldn't have any issue with it. But they clearly do not want players to know that a faction transfer at 120 is basically just transferring your character back to 110 on the opposing faction. You lose EVERYTHING except your character level and items equipped.
There are ZERO equivalents in BFA for some reason and it is not stated anywhere that I could find by a credible source. I opened a ticket in game and had a response within 18 hours just telling me that this is the way it is and that if I don't like how they did this to post here, so I am.
Such a quick response to a question that shouldn't even have to be answered. This is the MAIN concern of almost any faction change of a character at 120 yet it is stated no where. Please update your FAQ, please have this as a warning before completely ruining a character's progression this close to a raid tier launch.

There is a chart of BFA specific changes during a faction change that will probably not copy and paste correctly, but as if often the case many faction specific quest lines will reset, and in the case of BFA, there is no one for one trade off, each faction basically has their own unique faction specific quest chains.

that chart is not accurate though still. Nowhere does it state that no normal quest progress or all flight path unlocks will not be transfered. • Progress on character-specific achievements, such as for quests and PVP, will be reset.
This exact same thing happened to me. I was majorly angered to find that I didn't have ANY flight paths and suddenly could not do King's Rest.
Listen Blizzard, the fact that you charge $55 for a server/faction change for an automated service is absolutely ludicrous. Having to redo all this !@#$ just rubs salt in the wound. I suggest you get this right and transfer everything that is unlocked when faction changing, because right now, it is abominable, and I'm disgusted.

Yup... Just faction changed Alliance -> Horde after getting 120 and unlocking WQs, and now I feel that I paid $55 to have the opportunity to do all the quests all over again at max level.

The alliance and horde war should have ended with legion. It would have been perfect. Sargeras had pitted the two factions against each other for years. Class Halls were uniting people.
They could have had the hero joining a separate conflict all together. Leading into a new faction system not based on race.

Faction changing should be a big deal, game changing deal.
In fact it NOT a big deal and a money grab since MOP is why literally no one plays on the alliance anymore.
I wouldn't be surprised if normal/heroic raiding achieves are 80/20 this expansion and mythic 90/10 and world first 100/0 Horde
You'd think for a company that gets this much money, they'd be able to solve simple, mindless problems such as this...

So I also switched to alliance and lost all progress...I’m not redoing the entire campaign at 120 and I don’t want to make another character.
If I faction switch back to horde can I pick up where I left off? Or will it reset again?

Just found out the Maghar Orcs can't be DKs too so i'm seriously considering switching over to alliance but i'm reconsidering after all those posts.
This imo, is the critical question, if i switch to alliance, and later decide i can't be bothered to redo all the quests, and i switch back. Do i get my progress back?
Same here... wish I had read this first... complete screw job. They go so far as to transfer rep and "champions" -- all at the same level in your previous faction but all quest lines have to be re-accomplished. So while I have the champions...I still have to do all the intro mission board things to get the girl to give me more little followers. While I have all the rep and WQs I still have to do all the footholds to get the capt to take me to zandalar ports and get some of the flight paths. While I have all the rep I don't have dungeon attunements and will have to redo the entire Nations United quest line. Oh and did I mention they lost my cache and m+ key for the week? Serioulsy for $5 more I could have had a fresh 110 and grinded all this and had an additional 120.

Siege of Boralus and Kings' Rest are unlocked for all characters on the faction of the character that unlocked them and will not transfer when a faction change is complete.
If you unlock Warfronts they are unlocked for all characters on the faction of the character that unlocked them and will not transfer when a faction change is complete.
In addition, faction-specific quests and achievements won't be converted to their counterpart in the new faction. As a result, you will be required to complete the War Campaign in the new faction.
