I currently have characters on A locked server. I have the itch though of switching factions on the server. If I delete my characters to allow me to make new ones of the opposite faction, will I be locked out of the server and unable to do so?
From what I understand, if you had characters on a server prior to the lock, you could still create new characters. However, if you didn’t have characters on a server prior to the lock, you couldn’t.
So, sounds risky. If you delete all your alliance chars, does that remove the flag that allows you do make characters on that realm? Don’t know if that change is immediate and only Blizzard does.

This is wrong, you can’t even restore a character if you delete your last character on a server much less make one.

I have done exactly this. Had a level 1 horde character on a realm which became locked. I could create more horde characters but wanted alliance, so I removed the horde character, it took me straight to the new creation screen (even chose alliance) When I tried to create the character, it said the realm was already locked.
Since then, I have had two support ticket replies (3 days wait for each) and both are infuriatingly incoherent.
First completely ignored what I’ve explained and said that you can’t create any new characters on a locked realm… great, nice free stat for that ticket mate.
Again I’ve replied stating the same thing all over again, this time in more simple terms.
The second reply acknowledged that I wanted to create an alliance character but advised that I can’t because the realm is locked. AGAIN missing the f****** point that I’ve already had a horde character on a locked realm.
He then advised that as I have deleted my horde character in error, he restored it.
My God, if you’re going to restore a useless level 1 character whose sole purpose was to allow me to create a new character on a locked realm, why not allow me to create a new character on the faction side that I actually wanted?
I don’t know how many times I need to reply to these tickets stating the same thing.
And if they can’t do it, why not simply say the following:
" GREETINGS, I KNOW THAT YOU WANTED TO CREATE AN ALLIANCE CHARACTER SO YOU DELETED YOUR ONLY HORDE CHARACTER AND THEN, BECAUSE THE SERVER IS LOCKED, YOU COULDN’T CREATE THE ALLIANCE CHARACTER, WELL UNFORTUNATELY, THAT’S THE CRAZY CATCH 22 PLAYERS WHO WANT TO SWITCH FACTIONs ON A LOCKED SERVER FIND THEMSELVES IN. Is that so damn hard? Or does it take 9 days and three replies to get to this point?
It’s probably been at least 8 years since I’ve logged a ticket to support, but back then, they actually read it properly.
