F2p is kind of neat if you dont like end game

When my sub is off i play f2p and i have several characters that it is fun to try to min max gear using the whole universe of WoW and really doesnt reset every 6 months, also can chromies time whenever and experience all of warcraft and every quest feels like it “matters” in the sense that it has some substance to it, at retail max thkse quest feel empty imo, anyways its fun to work on loremaster in this way. Only true problem ive noticed is the hard zones where everything if i remember correctly is level 25 and youre just 20. You cant quest in those zones. Pvp is a change or pace as well more chill than sperg

You can only get to level 20 on f2p and that doesn’t include an account already subbed in the past. Seems like a waste as you’ll get to 20 in like an hour.

thanks capt obvious. it stops being about the levels and starts being about the character/game

Its twinking. Thats what F2Ps do. And its fun tbh. 20 twinks use gear from WoD, Classic, and potentially TBC. If they have access to Shadowlands as previously subbed accounts, there are some OP trinkets for twinks there as well + some utility items and BiS strength 1H IIRC.

Maybe not the part of it that OP is playing for but thats the “endgame” for F2P.

Edit: nm the str 1h is for 10s not 20s, 20s have a better alternative in Sunken Temple.

For anyone interested, PvE twinking is strongest at 10-13 by far (varies slightly by spec), but 20s can still solo (varies a lot by spec how well they do though). IMO 20 is way more interesting to gear in, way more interesting to play in because you have more content available, and has way more interesting class gameplay due to having more abilities and talents unlocked. But 10 is so much stronger that you’re really choosing between raw power and a more interesting “endgame”. A 10 can slap down some bosses before they can move as certain specs. A 20 won’t be doing that outside of the broken trinkets that would be patched if it were happening in endgame.

One thing to note if you want to do this is that they make you level up if you resubscribe with banked xp, like your level 20 could become a level 32 if you don’t stop xp while you play them, so you can never play them again while f2p.

f2p is inevitable. Its genuinely just a matter of time until they introduce a f2p version that’s more than a level 20 trial

Idk about that blizz is pretty hefty on their money making

I guess that explains why some very low level shaman was just decimating everything in my ramparts dungeon the other day

F2P wouldn’t be the end of the world for WoW. Honestly it would probably get more people to play the game.

But of course that also means Blizzard no longer needs to hold back on their shop. That thing would become atrocious over time.

FWIW, low level (caster) shamans and arcane mages just have nutty scaling in general even without being level locked and geared.

Surv Hunters too for single target but no one likes Surv.

Last time I was unsubbed I played around with a couple level 20s, I wouldn’t call them twinks but they were pretty close to bis for their level and I didn’t mind playing with those constraints . . . For free it’s not terrible. I feel like they intentionally lock you out of signature abilities like paladin wings, but it’s surprisingly playable.

I have two Twinks at the moment. One being a level 10 Priest, and 1 being a level 20 Paladin. I plan on letting my sub expire soon and play on my level 20 up until either the next patch (maybe, still debating on that), or all the way to the next expansion as I plan on him being my main going into it.

Next expansion is underground and has some cool looking Dwarven themes, thus, my main shall be a Dark Iron Dwarf this time around.

Yep. For a solid chunk of BFA and most of Dragonisles I’ve been F2P. Army of alts and level 20 super toons.

There’s a pretty healthy amount of content for Trials to delve into. I used to be into doing PvP on Trials because you could still earn gear/marks from victories, and there are classes that don’t need 20-30 talents that badly.

You can even speak freely with people in your instance groups so you’re not completely silenced.
