So barely anyone can play on it? Terrible idea. Here are some facts you should consider.
- Private server popularity was always over stated.
- Most players who came back to play classic 2019 never touched a private server, and it was first time they played in decades.
- Classic 2019 players cleared all the content in the game and largely got sick of the game. They were just happy to clear naxx and do the stuff they never got a chance to. They have no reason to come back.
- SOM is currently losing players left and right and is well on it’s way to being dead by the time naxx comes out.
- Old wow games aren’t gaining many new followers or players. Blizzard has to rely on the audience that’s all ready present and what those players want.
Why exactly would blizzard create a fresh classic server? That’s not what the player base wants. They want WOTLK, and or classic+ with new raid/dungeon content that has never before been seen.

Actually there was quite a large pvt server population. Was it massive? No. It was big though, keep in mind there was always 4-5 different servers at a time, for vanilla, tbc and wotlk. And not all were phase progressive. You bring up some good points for why som is bad but you also make some stuff up. There’s a new wrath server coming and this ones gonna be pretty popular. Saying original classic relaunched will be a failure and bad is like saying RuneScape is bad. That game is older than dinosaurs and people play it relentlessly. The only thing blizz could do with classic is leave it exactly the same but add a p7-8 or whatever. At this point just give dwarf shamans Tauren paladins. They tried to change the fundamentals of the game with som and that’s why it is dead. Fundamentals wouldn’t change by adding another phase or two, neither would the class faction swap. Who cares at this point just give us a classic that plays the way it’s supposed to
I enjoy the fresh exp but too many fresh realms like that will scatter the players. just do two new fresh, one pvp, one pve; every year or two. Im neutral about QOL changes but not a fan of classic+ bc i dont trust the devs to do it right. I just want to play vanilla with a healthy population. And i dont mean a 20k megaserver like tbc. idk

We don’t need any more servers. The maintence for the ones already here is almost nonexistent. This phresh nonsense can be rolled out on any of the abandoned Classic Era servers. What you’re really looking for isn’t a new server but a mass of players to join you in a reroll event.

I do not know if it would fall under fresh classic, but I wish blizzard would make classic with the retail version software/program. I started playing classic just because I am board with tbc classic. I will always go back to classic and play. No interest in wrath of licking or any of the later expansions. Seams my game playing skill set limits as a resto druid we’re met in mount Hyjal. I retired from raiding and just play for casual entertainment.

All of WoW, including Classic, is on the Retail engine.
