Eye of the Jailer Wards no longer work

The wards that you buy from Ven’ari in The Maw against some effects from the Eye of the Jailer no longer work. Wards for the eyes, assassins, and abductors no longer work on characters I have purchased these for. I’m now being attacked on site by eyes, hunted by assassins, and snatched by abductors.

The items you get from venari do not stop these events from occuring. Without those wards, you would get a debuff that increases your eye of the jailer when these events happen. For example, you get attacked by an abductor, with the ward purchased, you do not incur any extra eye of the jailer gains after you’re freed. If you do not have that ward you will gain upwards of 500 more to you’re eye of the jailer bar. If you are getting the debuff from the assassins or the abductors, then yeah its bugged. If your simply having these events occur, then that is not a bug.

That’s absolutely not true at all. The items specifically provide immunity against those encounters entirely. This is a bug.

Read the entire description of the item. It specifically says that you will no longer be affected by the Jailer’s Mark.

Stamp the sigil onto your body, gaining permanent immunity to Mawsworn Assassins’ The Jailer’s Mark.

See the possessive in Assassins? Also the end of the sentence is not after that word, but at Mark.

I’m not sure what you are pointing out here. The Jailer’s Mark has several effects that occur when you reach specific thresholds on the Eye’s mark. Ven’ari sells 3 items that provide immunity to 3 of those effects. Those items no longer have the immunity they once did when used. My characters, at least, now suffer those three effects again, when before the last patch, they worked fine.

Are you talking about the debuff that the Assassins and the Abductors apply? Or the fact that the Assassin’s and the Abductors appear at all?

I think you have some things confused, so I’ll try to explain. Every activity you do in The Maw increases your threat on The Eye of the Jailer. With each tier reached, you will be hindered by specific encounters.
Tier 1: Soul Beacon - Soulseekers are now hostile. Previously, they were neutral, now they are red.
Tier 2: Soul Surge - Towers will periodically attack your location. Move out of the swirly circle, if you get hit then you take damage and are chained.
Tier 3: Hunted - Assassins will spawn when you enter combat. These assassins apply a debuff called The Jailer’s Mark, which increases your Eye of the Jailer threat.
Tier 4: Winged Abductors - Stygian Abductors now will spawn and carry you up high. Kill them before you get too high. These apply a debuff called Soul Brand, which also increases your Eye of the Jailer threat.
Tier 5: Immediate Extermination - Healing taken is reduced, once it stacks to 10 you then get periodic shadow damage. It’s time to leave when you get this far.

The items sold by Ve’nari give you immunity to the debuffs applied by the Assassins and the Abductors. Those encounters will still happen, you just won’t get the extra Eye of the Jailer threat.

Okay, no, I’m not confused about this. The items are very explicit as to how they function and I have noticed a difference since 8.0.5.

There were three in question, but I can’t seem to find one of them that applied to the eyes that wander around and whether they aggro right away or not. The remaining two items are the Soul-Stabilizing Talisman and Sigil of the Unseen.

Soul-Stabilizing Talisman: Don the Soul-Stabilizing Talisman, gaining permanent immunity to Mawsworn Abductors.
Sigil of the Unseen: Stamp the Sigil onto your body, gaining permanent immunity to Mawsworn Assassins.

In both descriptions it is very explicit. It means that these types of encounters will no longer happen. It does NOT state that these encounters simply won’t add additional threat from the Eye of the Jailer.

Soul-Stabilizing Talisman
Permanent Upgrade: The Maw
Item Level 60
Binds when picked up
Unique

Use: [Don the Soul-Stabilizing Talisman, gaining permanent immunity to Mawsworn Abductors’ Soul Brand.]
“An enchanted talisman, built to protect the wearer’s soul against the darkest magics of the Mawsworn.”

Sigil of the Unseen
Permanent Upgrade: The Maw
Item Level 60
Binds when picked up
Unique

Use: [Stamp the sigil onto your body, gaining permanent immunity to Mawsworn Assassins’ The Jailer’s Mark.]
“A powerful sigil stolen from the Mawsworn, dabbed in otherworldly ink.”

Very explicit indeed. You just stopped reading when you read the mob’s name and not their ability. There are no items which exist in the Maw that give you a free pass to afflictions once you reach tier 3 and above. You will still aggro Soul Seekers, you will still be bombarded by towers, assassins will still pursue you, abductors will still attempt to claim you. All the aforementioned items do is prevent the acceleration of reaching tier 5 of the Eye of the Jailer, as abductors and assassins will debuff you if you don’t otherwise have these applied.

Additionally this was the thing well before 9.0.5, as this was commented on on wowhead in 9.0.2 (November 2020) with the same detail. There hasn’t been any changes in functionality.
