Extremely high latency

Your internet speed will never dictate the latency, your distance from the server can, and depending on different factors, can cause it to raise more. Providers can also slow down nodes if traffic is high, given higher priority to certain traffic, which does not bode well for gaming traffic.

I believe group leader usually does, but I’m not sure, but if your in a group you could be switched to a different server group, which exist in Chicago, Las Vegas or Australia for the US region.

Same issues with lag, VPN does not resolve it, switching from home internet (TDS) to Mobile Hotspot (ATT) does not resolve it. World latency anywhere from 500ms to 50000ms… Cleared up early today, but back to worse around around 7PM EST.

My latency hasn’t been as high as some folks are reporting, but generally I sit between 80 and 85 ms. Recently though, it has been going upwards of 230-250 ms.

It isn’t constant but isn’t just a spike either. I did speed tests on my network and tried other games. The speed test came back right around 70ms to my ISP while the WoW Latency was at 250. I didn’t see any noticeable delays on other games.

I can try a VPN, but in the past I’ve had bad results where the VPN causes network outages. I am in the Central timezone, but the servers my toons are on are Silvermoon/Mok’Nathal which I think are in Pacific Time. Not sure if that makes a difference.
