Azshara was supposed to have a battle ground supposedly it was a 5 v 5. It was also probably what they scrapped and ended up designing the Arena system around.
Biggest one was the emerald dream. It was talked about in three possibilities. First, as a new zone. Second, a large raid with 3 separate entrances. Third, 3 separate raids.
You pretty much got it, although maybe stuff through the portal was also going to be in? There was a map image floating around that showed what they had planned dungeon-wise for the initial vanilla experience.
It’s a good thing they didn’t either because Blizzard would run into some major power-creep issues if they added anything else.
If you look up WoW - The Exploration Movie, you can see a video that was one of the first big leaks of unfinished content, this was before BC came out. You can see several unfinished zones, he also explored existing ones and gets into places we never could back then.
Occasionally you can spot a single art asset that did eventually get used, like a big Pit Lord skeleton
Don’t forget about Uldum! End of Uldaman quest line sends you to uldum, but uldum doesn’t exist, then when they finally put in a version of it, it was unrelated to the Uldaman quest.
Doesn’t belong in vanilla. Belongs in The Burning Crusade. What could have been does not exist in vanilla and never will.
That is unless you have some gnomish trinket which can traverse you between different universes. Do you have such a device? If I had to guess I’d say your engineering skills are too low.
I think there was supposed to be a second stormwind stockade and surely they didn’t add old ironforge for nothing. Perhaps that was meant for something? Hyjal maybe?
Kara existed in vanilla, it just was held off for TBC. Personally I am of the opinion that anything you can reach portal-wise should (eventually) be accessible in classic.
Kara existed about as much as Hyjal existed. Yes, technically it was there. But it wasn’t finished.
There are no opinions on the matter. The simple fact is that Karazhan as a raid did not exist in vanilla.
If you want to tell me it should be in the game then make your point as to why. We can argue about that. But we cannot argue whether or not it was vanilla. It wasn’t.
For an authentic vanilla experience, Karazhan should not ever be in vanilla Classic. If we get to Burning Crusade Classic people can have Karazhan on their separate BC servers.
Karazhan would be anticlimactic after naxx unless they make it even more difficult than naxx. At which point could we have brand new unfinished content like Uldum?
I tend to not look at things so meta-like. From the perspective of the gameworld they were not “unfinished”. Just inaccessible. They were very much a part of the original gameworld, very much like DM was before it suddenly became accessible. And ZG, etc.
