External Promotions being US only

Lately there has been a lot of promotions for WoW which in itself I do not have a problem with. However, a lot of these promotions are only obtainable by US residents and myself being in Canada I do not have access to these, which I imagine is the same for many other players in various countries.

So far there has been the Trolli gummi promotion (had to ask a friend to get a code), The Ice Murloc funko pop pet (which if you order to be delivered to Canada will not give the code) and the Mountain Dew points promotion which has mog, unique pets and a red bike mount which requires being a US resident to take part in. Iā€™d even purchase these products and participate in the promotions but I simply cannot.

I am hoping these collectibles will have alternative methods of obtaining them. I also hope that future promotions involve something more global that more people can be involved in because WoW has players across the world.

In addition to the regional issues it appears there is another issue with codes on doritos bags being scanned outside the packaging and scalpers selling codes on websites for exorbitant prices. Due to the limited stock of the bikes, which are digital product which there is no reason for scarcity, the only group that benefits from this are scalpers and not players.

FOMO has been a useful tactic to keep people in games but it can work in reverse where it makes people feel behind and not want to engage. This kind of stuff with Brrrgl and now the Hateforged Blazecycle makes me not want to bother with any promotions going forward even if they are available in Canada.
