External HD with a mac for wow classic?

the windows computer i’m using finally died and i’m most likely gonna get a mac. will i be able to play wow with the wow client files stored on my external hard drive?

i tried this previously with a macbook air and it didn’t work. however, this was with the wow classic beta.

i’d be using the new mac for school, and i want to keep the internal hd freed up for the files i need, which is why i want to avoid occupying 70GB with wow.

will i be able to play wow on one of the new macs with an external hd? if so, how should i set that up?

If the installer doesn’t give you the option of installing on the external drive, then let it install on the internal drive & then drag & drop the whole World of Warcraft folder to the external drive. You’ll need to update the launcher settings (in the Game Install/Update section) to point it to the World of Warcraft folder on the external drive. Then you can delete the World of Warcraft folder on the internal drive. I assume you could also drag & drop the launcher itself to the external drive, but I haven’t tried that.
