Extended Queues Expected on Select Realms (Updated Aug 20)

The server won’t care if you joined day 1 or during launch. You’re doing Qs no matter what, so there’s really no reason why players on full realms shouldn’t be switching.

Well since both Pagle and Mankrik are Full and you’re recommending that players on both of those realms move to lower population ones, I’ll just move to the other East Coast Normal server… Oh wait…

Please consider opening at least 1-2 more Normal servers seeing as all 4 are currently at FULL or HIGH.

I don’t feel it’s fair to ask players on Pagle or Mankrik to try and move characters to either of the HIGH servers, do you?

Give the PVE players more server choices before launch please!

Population = FULL ==> several hours or more in the way of queue waiting time according to the Q&A yesterday. They’ve said they won’t divulge layer or server caps because they are dynamic. I believe they have said that MEDIUM pop (Classic) > FULL pop (Vanilla, 2006). To me, the relevant metric is the queue wait.

And this does not include they MANY, MANY people who refuse to pay for a sub in advance of launch date.

Imagine how many thousands are going to sub and need to roll characters on these realms on Monday… (Or perhaps this weekend at least)

And guess what. As those people come on, Blizzard will spin up new servers. Why is that such a puzzle?

Most likely, on go-live day, you are going to see more realms on the list with some new ones listed as OFFLINE. They can turn them on in seconds as they are needed.

I’m surprised this hasn’t generated more discussion. 6X more people on a server will drastically change the game play experience. Imagine your 50 person FPS deathmatch suddenly has 300 people on the same map.

Yeah that makes a lot of sense.

People can then choose from full servers or empty. Servers with their friends on them, or servers with noone.

servers they can play immediately by themselves, or full server they can;t log into to play with their friends.

And if the new servers stay low pop for this reason… they will attrition to dead servers while the extremely overpopulated servers stay over populated and long queue times.

Again… the optics are better to say “Look we had so many people trying to log in we had log queues” rather than say “We are merging some servers due to the need for a lot on launch day”

It wouldn’t really be fair to the PVE players to add more servers at launch, because then we’d be competing with thousands of NEW players for names along with everyone who’s currently subbed trying to move.

The entire point of Blizzard opening up character reservation early is to reward those who are giving them money NOW. They made 8 bucks off of me subbing early and I was happy to pay it, in order to get the bonus of early name reservation.

The longer they make us wait for new PVE servers, the more people are subbing, the higher the chance I can’t move my characters and keep the names that I got.

It’s a question of fairness- they opened up PVP servers within a few hours of PVP going full. Then they added two more within a day. 3/4 PVE servers have been listed as Full for 2 days and the very last high pop went Full yesterday and we still have no word.

That’s not fair to PVE.

People cannot go to a lower pop realm if there are none! I will not roll on a pvp realm. I created my three characters on the single rp realm. If that is full when it comes to launch, I will have no where to go if all the servers are full.

I do believe Blizzard badly underestimated how popular Classic will be.

Ok so let me get this straight… You want me to delete my characters on Pagle and move to where… Mankrik?! It’s full too!!! I will only play on Eastern Normal realm.

Add a new EST PvE and maybe I’ll move.
lol not very well thought out Blizz.

No where to go for those of us on PVE Eastern servers.

Any thoughts on adding another Eastern PVE realm since both are full and expected to have significant ques now?

ps. I apologize, I don’t enjoy posting the same question in multiple threads, but there are three active “blue” threads on the same or similar topic. I am not certain which is the best location to ask.

Blizz! PLEASE add 1 more NORMAL PVE realm so we can get the heck off Pagle. Why are you not listening!

Mixed feelings here on the topic.

Yes, right now it would seem like a good idea to open up more servers. However, if in a month or two we see a large drop in population, we could see some of the new realms ending up dead. I get why Blizzard is hesitant on doing this.

Although I too am not looking forward to long queues, I think we may have no choice but to endure them for a while and see if after time they persist. Perhaps then they’ll rethink the idea of opening up a couple more realms for us. I’ve left Pagle for an Eastern RP realm but by Monday that server too will most likely be full and switching to a medium pop realm will still have a queue.

They have a bet among themselves as to which EST PvE server will become the new Herod. /sarc

For those that harp that PvP gets them right away is false. Go back and look at Herod, it went full before 24 hrs passed after opening and it took Blizz almost 4 days to open a new server. Also the myth that there is more PvE players than PvP players is just that a myth and has always been a myth (It is why games such as Fortnite, Smite, League of Legends all are big hits with tourney’s paying millions of dollars). What PvE players have done and continue to do is pay more in micro transactions for QoL items or costumes which are easy/cheap to code put make tons of money. Hell Blizz even admits that most of it’s profit comes from micro transactions and not Subscriptions and what will Classic not have? Micro transactions they can milk, it has to make it’s money on Subs.

With all that said I do agree that there should be more PvE realms opened up, hell they should have opened one up as soon as the first hit full, but they are in reactive mode and just like a dinosaur it takes awhile before the pain hits the brain and it reacts.

Or maybe your friends should all compromise like you, and switch servers? The 4 IRL friends I play WoW with, as well as my sister and her husband, AND two of their friends are all coming to Skeram with us because Herod and Whitemane are going to be queue city.

No one has anything to lose by switching right now, none of us have any progress on any server. I actually benefited from switching because I was able to reserve all 3 names that I wanted on Skeram, whereas I could only get 1 or 2 on the full servers.

Either tell your friends to switch with you, or get new friends that don’t suck. If you think about it, there wouldn’t be any sort of population issues if people weren’t autistic about the server they want to play on.

or ya know… 5 more.

I posted before the announced stalagg

lol that doesn’t change the fact that they still need to add several more. They keep acting like one at a time is going to get people to move… then theres all these people so scared that servers are going to die in a few months when there is absolutely no proof of that. All it tells me is they haven’t played vanilla since actual vanilla and they forgot how addicting the game is.
