If that happened they would need to restore every toon that died or the server woukd die
Why would they start now, they NEVER give any details, likely to avoid their embarrassment at yet another amateur screw-up.

The just DID add the servers, but took them off the Realm List after adding them, the chaos with the ‘era’ HC servers is a result of yet more code pollution of the ‘hc’ server code with SOD and ‘classic’ stuff that has no reason to be included in the ‘era’ server code-base.
The loss of the entire day is a direct result of the 20-year-old spaghetti code their intern devs can’t handle.

This post is out of date. It is now the 20th. I’m confident that you had everybody working all night long getting this fixed that you are too busy to provide an update. Just try not to accidentally delete our toons while you’re busy “fixing” the HC servers.

honestly better to get it figured out today then on fresh day
As a non-gaming programmer, the last thing your client(s) want is some obscure statement hours after being left in the dark. Most of us HC classic players played in 2004-2006 and can certainly deal with an unexpected down time. However, when you say nothing for hours and then basically say nothing once you say something, it just leaves us to speculation.
X happened. We’re doing Y to fix it and will announce a status update every Z (hopefully 2) hours until resolution. We apologize and want our players to have the best exp… blah blah

Has anyone considered putting this info in the support ticket auto-responder? I put in a ticket for the hardcore realms being offline just minutes before this post. And the response I got was to contact my ISP… Because apparently my small town ISP owns and operates Blizzard servers now… lol

Pay a sub monthly just to get this garbage gameplay experience, seriously how a multi billion company can’t have a premium service ??? while private servers with less than 0.000000000001% of your infrastructure and budget and can keep a realm shiny with thousands of players, this only means you’re all lazy and paycheck thieves

oh, ok, so, in other words, we can play WoW Classic/HC for free w/o paying a sub to another game? b/c i dont play retail. its like “hey, sub to this game in order to play this other game” i mean you cant play them w/o subbing to retail.

I suggest you to read the subscription info and what the word include mean. Subscription is not only for retail anymore.
Its like saying you buy a room in a hotel with all included but dont have food. Would you ask for a compensation in that case? I think the answer is yes.

i’m pretty happy. i managed to get to level 30 on my hc druid with a broken left wrist and only playing with a mouse and clicking everything. lol 
i’d say that was good practice for fresh tomorrow.

Bunch of adult children whining like 6 year olds over a patch screwing up HC servers so they’re working on it is what’s pathetic here.
“We’ve invested $1000s of dollars over the years.” You’ve all continued to pay blizzard to play a 20 year old game and/or retail. That is your choice. This type of maintenance has happened intermittently for 20 years. You know it’s a possibility every Tuesday-Weds. Yet 20 years later you’re still whining about it acting like you’re entitled to something. Instead of whining like a petulant child, cancel your sub and do something else with your time? But we know y’all will be right there lining up at 10am et and continue to give Blizz your money.
“I want compensation!!” That 50 cents of playtime is sure gonna bankrupt you eh? There are 4 other variants of wow to play. If you can’t handle a day of downtime for ONE of 5, again cancel your sub. Speak with your wallet. You keep saying all Blizz cares about is $ - then take your $ away! But again, come 10et or whenever they get the servers up all the whining will magically stop and y’all will continue to pay Blizz.
God forbid you act like the adult you are and maybe get some sleep or go outside or just be fn patient.

We want a pitcher not a belly itcher! oop or get off the pot blizz. Maybe we wouldn’t have these problems if Blizzard actually hired a team competent enough to make changes. I would expect that to be difficult when they hire people at 34% below the nation average for their position. I’m sure that isn’t the case for management and the “suits” that love to flex their smooth brain ideas.
No, that comment that you get anything for free was just poor logic. You pay your sub for everything that’s included. You’re not paying for the Big Mac and then getting free fries and drink when you order the meal. Also, don’t eat McDonalds. It’s poison lol.
