Expulsom sucks

So little math in this thread.

Scrapper is hands down the best way to make casual gold in this expansion. Not even close.

Yes, some professions its worthless. So?

As to the tailoring/enchanting question above: bracers, DE the blues, scrap the greens (or scrap them all if you want to sell Gloom Dust too). Tailoring requires the Deep Sea Satin too so that is the pinch point for me. DE epics for Veiled Crystals -> Make enchants.

I can scrap an item for 1-5 of a white mat. They sell for 10g or under typically. That’s 10-50g, vs a guaranteed 37-100g. On top of that there’s always a chance of getting green mats, so you’re averaging less than 25g an item you scrap

I have never scrapped any item past the quest...

it's a non thing for me.

I have never done an island Expedition past the quest either.

so many big misses for Blizz this X pac.
Yes you are missing a lot!

Thank you :)
I am a blacksmith / enchanter, I want the mythic quality leggings but the only thing keeping me back is the Expolsum. Not the Sanguicelli, the Expolsum.

I'm in the same boat. Expulsom is really stupid. I get that I'm supposed to scrap crafted bracers to get it as a tailor, but getting the white quality cloth is really difficult. I have plenty of green quality cloth which is supposed to be rarer.

Meanwhile I still haven't really played with my engineering, mainly cause I need to save all my expulsom for mythic level raiding gear.

The mat returns have almost zero to do with scrapper profits. Like I said above, I only scrap the greens (for chance at expulsum).
I stopped scrapping the items I get because leatherworking mats sell for pennies compared to the sell price of the item itself. Of course, as an alchemist, I need Expulsom to make cauldrons for my guild, which means I get to burn 3 Anchor Weed every day just to get enough Expulsom for one cauldron. Meanwhile, I've got ~130 Sanguicells that I have zero use for; this whole system is stupid.

At the very least, I don't get why bound crafting mats aren't BoA instead of BoP. Heaven forbid I give an alt some Sanguicells that I can't use on this toon.
Yeah, really wish I had a use for Sanguicell. At least add a vendor who will convert it into bags of herbs or something.
For reference, I am now over 1k Sanguicell and yet to get the Expulsom required for 370 gloves on my tailor. The only other item my tailor has used Expulsom on is the 355 gloves. That's very little expulsom for a toon I've been playing since week one.

Scrapping WQ blues yields a ton of Deep Sea Satin (and also embroidered satin for bags).
I've found the best thing to scrap is green wrists from leatherworking to get the most, I'm sure other professions have similar things but for me that was the cheapest way.
Crafting sucks outside of the initial release and having inscription to make cards.. anything else is essentially pointless, especially if you have say BS on a leather wearer as it restricts you from selling any high level gear bit.
Obtained through gathering. I like this.

A server with even a half-intelligent economy has already saturated all "product" markets for expulsom so heavily that you'll lose money doing this. You're better off selling the raw crafting mats than using them to fish for expulsom to make other sellables or even sell DE mats directly.

A Veiled Crystal sells for a hair over 650g right now on Ner'zhul, and it's not even a big server. You'll spend several times that fishing for enough expulsom to proc a 310 epic, and the Umbras won't cut the difference.

Yeah I haven't found any scenario on my enchanter where DE'ing isn't the better option
AFAIK, they are adding a feast that uses sanguicells in 8.1.

It's a terrible addition to the crafting profession.
It's just one more thing tying our entire experience to RNG this expansion.
At the very least it should be made account bound, and even then it still sucks.

Yep. Shouldn't be bound at all, and it should drop 100% of the time from scrapping blue-quality items, and 2-4 from scrapping epic quality items.

I suspect they'll drip-feed us these fixes with each major patch, as "upgrades" to the scrapper. Notice it says "Mk1"? I'll be surprised if it doesnt' go up to Mk2 or 3 by the end of this terrible expansion. Now your obnoxious RNG BoP resource is more likely to drop, etc.
