Expulsom problem

Rant:

I just scrapped over 60 items and got exactly ZERO expulsom. Which makes me wonder… what is going on? I have read through some of the threads here, and it seems its not just me.

So I am thinking - how much do I have to grind to get the 300 or so expulsom necessary to get my recipes and then however many I need to actually RNG items with stats that fit my main (SK/LW Sin Rogue.) Assuming 2-3 Yetis killed per crafted bracers, assuming i need 10K braces (this is what it seems like) - do I really need too kill 30K of Yetis? Since I play around 1 hour per day, this might take me a couple of months or more of NOTHING BUT MINDLESS KILLING YETIS to get there!

I usually do not mind grinding and I understand that this is part of the MMO (or RPG in general.) But so is FUN, and there is no fun grinding Yetis for 2 months or more… Just saying. Its insane.

And for those who say that its a Mythic gear I will be crafting, so it should be hard for non-raiders - I agree, but… How much time you need to raid to gear up to that level? And - if this is what you do - its FUN! I am looking at 2-3 months of grind (or ore?), not fun. Not progression, just grind. Stupid, mindless grind.

I remember Ashran - where I got my last purple PvP set. It took some 2 weeks to get the set, and it was 2 weeks of fun! I don’t raid, but how much does it take to get a good set? And its fun!

Professions should be a 3rd - fully equivalent - path to gearing, so the effors/time/fun-factor should be equivalent. Ideally, each path should result in the same basic set, maybe recolored or something… I think this is what I would like to see. Make it hard (as PvP and Raiding) but independent of both, and make it fun. Its all I am asking for.

The Expulsom rate from crafted items was significantly lowered a couple patches ago. It is much better from random drops and rewards, and 100% from non-crafted trinkets.

There are also quite often profession WQs that reward Expulsom if you already have the primary reward (eg a recipe upgrade).

I do still occasionally dispose of excess cloth and leather by crafting bracers to scrap but I plan to get most of my Expulsom through scrapping non-crafted stuff. I buy greens off the AH if cheap enough too.

Oh, that explains it. In effect Blizzard nerfed the widely-known (it’s in many videos) strategy: crafting the cheapest items just so you can scrap them, just to get expulsom. That method essentially turns “getting expulsom” into a mechanical process you can pay for.

I’ve used this method in the past, whenever I wanted expulsom.

Apparently Blizzard intended expulsom as a lucky drop, so they decided this method was an “exploit” and nerfed it severely. But there are still plenty of videos out there suggesting it. So when OP tried using this method (crafting 60 bracers with Tailoring or LW) OP didn’t get the expulsom that the video told him he would.

I’m a crafter, but I’m not a raider or a mythic dungeon runner. It seems like every expansion Blizzard puts more and more “do max level content” requirements on professions. They want us to get our raw mats from drops, not by gathering or crafting them. This change to expulsom is another example of this.

I don’t like this change. No player does everything in WoW. To me WoW’s strength is that it doesn’t force players to play parts of the game they don’t like. Making dungeons/raids/battlegrounds a requirement for crafting is something I dislike.

This doesn’t encourage me to do those things. I don’t do things I dislike. This just limits my crafting.
