I hate this affix. I hate it more than any other affix.
It isn’t fun. It turns the ENTIRE dungeon into a stress induced high octane misery dumpster fire where you can’t focus on any of the fun things you enjoy about the game.
The literal clunkiest part of the entire game is targeting, and explosives turn the entire game into targeting minigame that if you fail you probably wipe.
Can we remove this? Please? Seriously I don’t even want to do keys because of it. The only thing it does is stress me out and obliterate my ability to focus. All it does is fill me with cantankerous rage.

I was an idiot and didn’t finish KSM yesterday during what felt like a push week for me.
It was only a +16 NO I healed today and although it was comfortably timed the experience was god damn miserable. Like you said, it becomes a multitasking hellscape especially as a healer dealing with DPS that let Bursting stack and refresh with reckless abandon while ignoring Explosive orbs and not interrupting on a Fort week.
If you’re a pug healer this is a good week to prioritize playing real life instead.
Add a DPS icon alongside the tank and this a fairly accurate meme of what healing this week is like: https ://old.reddit.com/r/wow/comments/zl00v6/in_celebration_of_mythic_dropping_today_i_made/

Looks like you play feral, why so worried about it? Just ignore them unless there’s like 4-5 at the same time.
I can definitely say I wouldn’t miss explosive if it was replaced with something else.
I actually agree with this, it doesn’t even really add difficulty, it’s just tedious.
I’d rather do Sanguine or I even didn’t mind necrotic after they nerfed it a bit.
Explosive is just annoying.
I don’t believe you. I’ll be here waiting for next week where you say those affixes are the worst.

Explosive is infinitely better than Quaking was last week. I’d rather deal with a few explosives than Quaking during a boss mechanic that has us stacking.

It barely feels like an affix unless you pull a giant pack of stuff.
Affixes in general could just go, though.

I hate Explosive too, because it’s tedious and uninteresting just like you said. If an affix is trivialized by being able to target it easily, then the affix is literally “good luck targeting this in a sea of nameplates.” The very design of the affix is to force you to point and click. It’s not fun.
Blizzard, however, is obviously dedicated to keeping it around. It’s been one of the most hated affixes since the beginning and they don’t seem remotely interested in the idea of removing it.
I’ve been thinking about ways that it could be made interesting, especially in the vein of the risk-reward philosophy they’ve taken with seasonal affixes. What if explosives healed enemy mobs when they went off, but if you destroy them they blow up for aoe to enemy mobs or gave the group a temporary stacking haste buff? That would remove the high pressure wipe threat while still punishing you for time if you miss any, while also incentivizing killing them. I know that would probably break the MDI by allowing the top .001% of groups to finish a dungeon four minutes faster, and the MDI is the only thing they balance M+ around, but it would add a level of complexity and appeal that the affix is currently sorely lacking.
Explosive is miserable because we are dealing with a 2005 targeting system, and even using mouseover macros barely work because some things have ginormous hitboxes that block you from touching anything inside them, or they are inside a swarm of nameplates.
it’s designed to punish tunnel vision
what does that say about most WoW players?

I’ve been completely miserable in every key i’ve done this week.
Explosives make every dungeon turn super sweaty. I feel like I need to watch 5 blood sport movies and chug 3 monsters before even doing a dungeon this week.
I find it nearly impossible to focus on actually playing the game when I’m constantly on high alert to swap and kill explosives. I do about 1-2 dungeons and I have an actual migraine and I’m more ornery than Eustace Bagge… and I think that’s just the result of bad design.
Explosives feel like a stressful chore with absolutely zero reward for dealing with them. No cool sounds… no score keeping on how many you killed… no “good job sport, you gottem” No stacking buff for killing them… nothing.
I don’t enjoy killing them, so I can’t expect that anyone on my team is going to enjoy killing them – so therefore it’s my responsibility to kill them all. I can only focus on myself and what I can do right? So it turns into me doing grunt/chore work of cleaning up explosives while everyone else has fun playing the game.
If I don’t do that, then if one goes off I have to listen to people complain about not killing explosives / potentially not time a key. That or feel like I didn’t do enough / put too much burden on my team. I’m not about to complain about other people not getting the explosives so it’s just a burden I have to bare.
It’s just a terrible affix imo.
It’s designed to make you play against the UI, not the game itself. Imagine if there were an affix that randomly rearranged your keybinds. It’s the same concept. The difficulty isn’t in killing the explosives, it’s in fighting against the UI to target them in the first place.
on an evoker, this is likely the easiest week
bring an evoker… insta range ability with no cd
Next week is kind of free though. Bolstering is a huge “whatever” on Tyrannical weeks and there isn’t even a second affix next week.
That’s every healer except Paladin.
I heard dealing with the explosives is the healers’ job.
vanishes and sprints away
I like explosive but only when I heal.
use the WA to check the score, makes it more enjoyable, also the main perk of explosive is that it’s inconsequential when compared to other stuff like sanguine/bolstering/raging with fortified/quaking.

This is the only part I hate about it. It doesn’t feel good to break my rotation to keep hitting Azure Strike on them randomly. I don’t trust pugs to do them unless they state very clearly they’re doing it.
