So since we punished people who used experience potions to level fast because it “violated the integrity of the game”. I assume we’re also going to punish people who violated the same integrity to win prize money in a tournament sanctioned by Blizzard right? Surely we don’t hold double standards right? Surely we’re not gonna say that exploiting is okay depending who you are right?
Is Blizzard allowing “competitors” to showcase their terrible snapping bugs and other stuff that makes the game look like a high school project?
Sorry what? First I’ve heard of this.
He’s likely talking about something happening in the mythic competition going on right now where teams are probably using exploits to time keys.
I’m only making that assumption because 1) that’s what teams do and Blizz looks the other way, and 2) we’ve had forum MVPs recently make videos on how to exploit Sanguine Depths bosses with no action taken against them.
Oh was that the Metro incident? I took a break from the forums I missed stuff!
I think Echo found some use of the hunter skill Misdirect to cause plagueborers to “snap” all around the dungeon, and it helped them in the tournament.
I didn’t watch it… and I don’t care too much… But I do find it really silly they mob snapping is allowed in any of their tournaments. But ahh well, what do I know!
That’s exactly what happened. It’s on WoWhead.
Surprise! Blizzard’s pets get off scott-free.
I’m still waiting for a single player who exploited the legion PvP wq’s to honor 500 cap to get banned.
I think it would be kind of hard not to allow it.
“No, no, reset the run, that bug’s not allowed. No-- that one’s not allowed either, reset the run. Nope, not that one either, reset. Oh, the spear didn’t register in SOA? Nah, that bug’s allowed, get wrecked kid.”
Sure, but the normal use of mob snapping is pretty intentional and not exactly something most “accidentally” perform. I don’t care that much honestly, but I just find it odd to be allowed in a tournament. You list out “oh this bug is allowed vs not”, but I was simply talking about snapping… which isn’t really a bug. It was used in BFA all the time. I, personally, would just rather see a tournament not having mobs “teleporting” into specific spots as it seems less… legitimate. But eh, is what it is. Not game breaking.
The misdirect bug does seem extra exploitive in my opinion. Blizz can’t write a policy for every scenario, but it’s always been kind of understood that anything obviously exploitive is not allowed. Misdirection has a very clear written description that it should only last so many seconds. The fact that they’re able to make it last permanently makes it pretty obviously not intended. The plagueborers snapping over dramatic distances wouldn’t even exist if not for this bug.
In b4 they overnerf plagueborers instead of solving the misdirect problem.
Wait, wait… theyre punishing people for using exp potions in the way they were intended?
Using 50 at once and getting 48848485 levels per dungeon was never intended.
When exp potions were introduced, the buff was stackable. You could drink multiple and the effect would stack. I’m assuming that’s what he’s talking about.
People could just stack huge amounts of increased xp % and level up ridiculously fast… and it was an obvious bug. People got caught doing it and got a little temporary time out.
Thats on the coders and devs, not the players. Using an item as is, is not an exploit.
You had to use them by putting them as one item not using them from a stack. Anyone who did it knew exactly what they were doing.
So, because some dev failed to check that they could stack, thats the players fault? I disagree.
I think he’s talking about the Misdirection bug being used to snap plagueborers.
There were people who were able to do certain bfa WB over and over again and get loot from it. Free de mats. Free upgrades. Tons of chances at tf. That also okay in your mind for people to willfully exploit? Cuz levels and gear are both player power. If exploiting for one is fine then the other should be as well.
