I’m not sure why you replied to me with this
You mean a bug can’t be exploited and and exploit can’t be a bug? WOW… I better tell my colleagues….
Wow I’m surprised you got that! If you know that then explain how someone can exploit a bug that they didn’t know was going to happen
exploit - “make full use of and derive benefit from (a resource)”. the correct word is BUG. Stop trolling to troll
That would be “hypocrate” not “incel”. People love throwin that word around but very few know the actual definition.
well it happened in OG classic thats how I got my alts epic
You know who decides if it’s an exploit? Blizzard. Not a bunch of entitled nobodies on the internet. Blizz said it’s an exploit, thus it’s an exploit. Their game, their rules, and there is NOTHING you all can do about it. Well, you can cry about it, but we all know how far that will take you.
Is buying ur riding skill an exploit? 100% people who have bought it will have it removed XD
Link to where they called it an exploit
Blue post said it will be reverted next reset, so anyone who got the 150 mount without having the 150 skill will lose the riding skill.
They don’t have to–they called it a bug, and abusing a bug for your gain is what is called an exploit. Do you need this explained to you more slowly?
This bug couldn’t be exploited so kinda
Sure thing explain it as slowly as possible.
How can someone take advantage of a bug they didn’t know was going to happen
You cant “abuse a bug” or “exploit” without intention. Especially in this case
There was no way to foresee this bug.
It happened only at one instant in time.
For the players affected it’s not like there’s an in game method to unlearn riding skill
These people aren’t smart enough to understand the word exploit. Best thing we can do is to give them all the rope they need and just watch their minds go to work.
It’s fascinating listening to how people come up with the dumbest conclusions lol
I do think it’s odd that they are choosing to try to revert it; normally in a situation like this they have let it go unless it’s a massively abused exploit; such as the BFA leveling bug or the Legion AP exploit. They must be confident (incorrectly or not) that they understand how free epic mounts was given in order to undo it, but I agree if they botch it that I doubt they will fix it. Or they will be forced to overcorrect it by everyone getting free epic mounts or something.
Depending on how many people got free riding I’d probably have just left it alone.
the essentially gave some people 600g that’s not fair to the people who already bought epic riding or the people who still need to buy it. the only fair thing to do is remove the ill gained mounts
I don’t disagree it’s not fair, and I don’t disagree the fair thing to do is to remove them.
The discussion was around whether they will actually address is properly or botch the removal, and to that extent Blizzard tends to be very shoddy these days on proper implementation issues. I don’t think anyone has a right to complain if it gets removed though.
What if you bought the mount then the skill after. Probably going to lose ur riding XD
I’m remiss to use analogies, but a very good real-world counterpart is Fraud.
Fraud is defined as dishonestly obtaining a benefit, or causing loss, by deception or other means.
If you lie on your tax return to illegitimately gain $5,000 - you have perpetrated Fraud.
If the tax office makes a mistake and erroneously returns you $5,000 - you have not perpetrated Fraud.
If it was a known issue that the tax office was providing erroneously inflated returns and you deliberately attempted to exploit it - that is also Fraud. But as in this case with Blizzard, it does not seem that anybody who benefited was aware that the issue existed.
As in this case, you may still need to return the $5,000. But there will be no adverse action taken against you, because you weren’t at-fault for the illegitimately obtained money.
