Same thing has happened to my mt, just getting globaled from this boss once randomly from a multi shadow bolt auto attack. I think it has something to do with batching

Batching, maybe? It’s really buggy.
I feel like this happens a lot in naxx regardless of the boss.
I dont know if its some kind of anti kiting mechanic similar to thrash acting wonky or what but something like this seems to happen at least once or twice a run

Pureblood looks like a DPS to me.
It looks like Gothik shoots at two people at once: the MT and someone else at random. Looking at my last Gothik log I get this:

I snag aggro early and you see me get hit and someone else sometimes simultaneously. So RNG is the name of the game I suppose.
It’s more than that. Take a look at the clip I posted above. He casts what looks like at least 4 Shadowbolts on the volley that killed me. And I got hit by multiple simultaneous SB’s leading to my death as well. I am just as confused as OP.
Yeah, he was straight up blasting right there. Wowpedia does say this:
[Shadow Bolt] — Instantly casts a Shadow Bolt on a primary target and one or more random targets every second, dealing 2250 to 2750 Shadow damage. This Shadow Bolt can target multiple players at once, and can hit the same player twice. Damage cannot be partially resisted.
Maybe he just casts like five Shadowbolts in a second sometimes?

His Shadowbolts appear hit anywhere from 2 to 4 targets per cast. You took four hits in a very short amount of time and died by 7 overkill, but the cast prior to your killing blow, he hit you twice, tried to hit Chisum (he resisted), and hit Antoinette. What’s interesting is that he casts on the highest threat target (which was you up until your death), but it just picks whoever after that, including you again sometimes.
So every 1.5 sec the MT is going to get hit, along with up to three other targets which can also include the MT. What’s crazy however is that Gothik casts on a specific person, but he actually targets the “cleave” targets as well, but WCL doesn’t register any of these heartbeat target swaps. Based on logs, it looks like he’s only targeting you or Chisum.
Lot of mob have the exact same bug. when you LOS them they simply “stack” attack and unload them all at once. Just talk to any mage doing ZG run if you pass on the edge of the hakkar temple (with the 3 wind serpent) and you jump into water, they will evade after a few sec. If you wipe and get back to them, you`ll receive 10 attack at once cause they are stacking all the attack.
You did the exact same thing, he teleported, UI keep casting shadowbolt but you were LOS on the other side of the room, when he finaly got in range, it all got cast at once. Just bad RNG with the ignite aggro after the teleport
Thrash stacks building when mobs are out of melee range is in the “not a bug” list. There’s no such mechanic for casters.
So I started blasting
