So, I recently moved into a new home. The cable coming into the house only went to the bedroom, and as my gaming setup is in the living room and I need a hardwire from router to computer, this was an issue for me. So I crawled under my house and ran new coax to my living room. All’s well.
Well, I’ve been running like 200ms latency when I usually run between 10 and 15 on my server. It’s been driving me nuts. I’ve flushed my dns, replaced my router, replaced my coax, cleared caches, deleted all of my addons, no avail-
Then I notice I can see shadows in game which is weird because I don’t run high graphics due to my rig being a gaming laptop and I don’t want the nuclear temps. I check and my game is set to ultra, so I turn the graphics back down to where I usually have them.
Suddenly my latency issue is fixed.
