Explain this (mining question)

I hovered over a mining node on the minimap and saw something like 15-20 Bismuth Chunks all stacked on top of each other. When I went to that location I saw several horde stacked in 1 spot with tons of bismuth chunks around them, sort of like when you overload one of those EZ-mine nodes, except it was different. It looked like one of the horde guys was pulling them out rapidly. I don’t know how else to describe it, I was looking at a horde guy doing some animation rapidly…something like if you spam click a warlock soulwell or mage food rapidly…but each time a bismuth chunk was flying out.

I’ve done a fair amount of gathering and I’ve never seen this before, can someone explain what that was?

Bugged node probably. I’ve seen this once before. After like 30s everything despawned.

I swooped in and gathered them…then someone challenged me to a duel which I declined. I wondered if I was screwing something up for them. I didn’t know what I was looking at and didn’t think I was bothering anything…I just saw a bunch of bismuth ore that I gathered.

When I saw it I mined it but no duel.

This same exact thing happened to me today in the Ringing Deeps. A horde player, mining fast, with a dozen little node spawns around him.

Maybe he’s just exploiting a bugged node, but an empowered one. I never spawned more than a few on my alts.

I have mining maxed out and there is no legitimate way to replicate what I saw as far as I know. When you overload an EZ mine node maybe a dozen or so ore chunks all pop out at the same time with a timer before it explodes. There was no timer and the ore were being thrown out 1 at a time, just very fast…and there was much more ore than when I overload a node.

This also happened to me in the ringing deeps maybe 10 minutes before I wrote this thread (so like 45 minutes ago). At the time what made me think it was something intentional was the 5-7 horde stacked on top of the “guy that was spawning them”. They weren’t moving, they just stood stacked…and that someone challenged me to a duel a second or two after I started gathering them made me think that I was disturbing something.

Sorry I edited my post after I got on my alt and looked at the mining tree. Yeah I saw that too, but I thought it was one guy bugging out. It’s weird and looks like an exploit. Especially since one of them talked to you. They must’ve figured something out.

Yeah I don’t know. I was hoping someone else would.

Well, as others have noted, it is likely a bug of some kind. From the description, it likely stems from some sort of exploit centered around Rich Deposits and/or Seams with 15 KP in the node:

Whenever you mine a Rich Deposit/Seam, there is a chance to dislodge a chunk of rock that can be mined for additional ore.

I couldn’t even begin to guess what the exploit might be, but for that many to be camped around it and gathering, it is likely a big one. I’d honestly start using the in game system to report who you can and move on as I’m willing to bet many of the characters circled around this node are also likely bots.

Agree. If multiple people with the rich node ability all tap a rich node each miner has a chance to pop a chunk. The chunk can be looted by anyone.

So this could be multiple characters stacked up.

But I suspect it’s something else

There are some circumstances where the node will accidentally pop a second chunk out (and potentially more than one). I’m not sure what causes it but it did happen to me once or twice. Something went wrong with the original cast and it didn’t mine, but it popped a chunk. So I mined it again and then it popped another chunk somehow.

It sounds like they’re doing whatever it is that caused that glitch to happen over and over.
