Where and how are we supposed to progress the Delvers Journey? Seems the in game text via Brann is inaccurate. I got some percentage of bar 1 from the intro quests but he says “Do delves, open chests, get progress.” (paraphrased)
Just finished a 7 (not bountiful) — I always kill all the mobs and do the bonus objectives before the boss. loot was a few crests and a grey mushroom. No progress, no gold, bubkis, what gives?
I know Brann doesn’t get XP in normal delves but what’s with this progression? And furthermore, where does undercoin come from? The grind represented here is crazy to me if running regular delves is basically pointless.
I don’t usually make threads but having a hard time getting a straight answer with all the constant changes.
Opening chests at the end seems to give rep and finishing a bountiful delve with lives remaining I believe. Doesn’t have to be bountiful as the chests should still give some rep. Also I believe Delve map chest gives rep as well.
I’ve done 30 delves at this point (Delve Deeper) which might not seem like a lot to some.
Mix of normal and bountiful whenever I have keys. I can’t quite manage an 8, I swear this bar is not moving at all.

For anyone who finds this thread looking for similar answers my conclusion as follows.
Normals reward no progress or undercoin from the reward chests, I’m told this is a bug but that’s how it’s worked for me right now running 3 normals at +6 in a row.
If anyone knows if +8 normals reward progress from the heavy chests please let me know.
I have only progressed the Delver’s Journey by completing bountiful delves. In order to maximize the delvers journey make sure to kill the empowered packs of mobs. It could be bad RNG but it seems like you get slightly more progress if the empowered packs have been cleared. +/- 50
At the end of bountiful delves the 2 regular chests have a chance to drop both progress and undercoin relative to difficulty tier. If you use a key to open the bountiful chest it always rewards journey progress and undercoin.
Overall I rate this reward structure as tedious and the # of delves required to complete the journey in this season excessive.
Yea I just did a bountiful (no key), but got nothing for progress. If it’s all RNG on the final chests I think it’s bonkers. I’m three levels in and no idea how to get much further. I guess hunting more key fragments, but those seem in short supply this week as well.
Overall the whole delvers journey seems bugged…or way undertuned.
Yep, I found the chances of getting progress or undercoin from the regular chests in a bountiful were high but not guaranteed. The bountiful chest itself when unlocked always rewarding progress and coins.
I don’t really get why this information has been hard to come by or verify and I completely agree, way undertuned. My progress has been abysmal w/ close to 40 runs of mixed normals/bountifuls and using all the keys I have, not even making the first breakpoint in the journey.
Maybe that’s because I haven’t quite hit the ilvl to clear 8s? Even still, feelsbadman.qq
I’ve been delving hard. I hit another Brann level cap today, but I have just made it past unlocking the hat. The only times I noticed getting progress was completing bountifuls and opening bountiful or map chests.
I’m increasingly confident that the progress is non-linear and slows as you pass milestones as well.
That’s really great to hear that you’re enjoying it and I envy your progress. I haven’t even unlocked the lantern wing yet.
For discussion sake, if progression were linear • and you’re probably right to point out that it doesn’t seem to be which makes the following worse
Doing the math at my current rate vs. number of opened bountiful chests I would need to do over 150 delves at +6 or higher w/ the bountiful affix and a key to complete the season.
It takes me about 20 minutes to do one now on this priest (my main since forever) - total time just in delves, not doing world stuff for keys, is over 50 hours if you never fail a run.
I don’t think the journey progress is awarded from chests. Pretty sure it’s from defeating the boss. I always get a reward popup when the boss is defeated showing the journey progress I received.
There is a popup for clearing a bountiful delve (150 at level 8). There is also some for opening a bountiful cache with a key, and some for opening the map chests. Those do not pop up and are just items mixed in with the rest.
That is interesting. I don’t see any journey progress notification there, just finished a +7 Bountiful Fungal Folley. I get the usual popup that indicates the boss is dead + delve is complete and collect treasure notice.
I do see the Delver’s Journey currency item in at least one of the 2x heavy chests sometimes and I always see that same currency and some undercoin in the unlocked bountiful chest.
As you complete Delves, you will find various quest items inside treasure chests at the end of your run. These can be turned it at Elise Starseeker located at Delver’s Headquarters in Dornogal for 3,000 Delver’s Journey, 150 Resonance Crystals, and 750 Undercoin per quest.
Delver’s Journey grants progress toward the Delves Seasonal Journey track.
I am not really paying attention to Delve’s Details. What I am looking is just my gear ilevel, Brann’s level, Rank of Curios he is using and the loot I get from Bountiful Delves.
I initially completed 4 Bountiful Delves for the Vault. That should be enough for the week as I am saving Coffer keys for next week’s. Then yesterday, I decided to explore 2 Delves at tier 8 just to see how it is like… I love the challenges of its Bosses. There, I saw it… it gave me Delver’s journey points. I dont know really what it is for. All I care are its ilevel 603+ loots (i got a 610 loot x 1 for some reason and its corresponding Vault loots for Tuesday next week)
The lack of a numerical indication of how many points are needed per step is a major annoyance IMO and just another example of lazy developers doing the absolute minimum to implement something without actually thinking how to HELP players understand it.
Of course, if the devs actually played the game they may realise this.
I’ve run almost 40 delves, 14 bountiful, mostly in the plus 6 range. The gear is nice, I’ve even got a couple cool cosmetics. Short of the initial quest I’ve not seen one of those quest items. If they do exist the droprate is very low.
I know that might not seem like a lot to some players but if my math is correct and I think it is at least mostly based on what I’ve tested myself — slamming 50+ hours into bountiful delves + whatever overworld time is required to get the keys is super tedious at best and flatly not worth it at worst imo.
It’s more of self explanatory. The game would teach you. The journey is to reach highest Tier. At Delve’s entrance, it shows you the recommended ilevel of each Tier. So you do them beat them to unlock the next higher Tier. When you get a quest item, it shows you where to turn in. I do those as I expect it levels up Brann and that is all I care.
You just repeat and repeat until you beat the highest tier and beat it’s last Boss which is implied… Zekvir ?? is the last Main Boss.
What do you want to know more? Hey, do bountifuls and collect all Rank 4 Curios… level up Brann to the max and destroy all Delve’s Tier. GG.
I had a comment on the other forum thread where I said that Delves is more grindy than M+.
On M+, I just have to sit on Dungeon Finder, get a group, fly to the dungeon or be summoned, beat it… 20 to 30 mins, done and repeat. Around 2 to 3 hours of playtime, I would have 2 Vault slots on M+ and that’s good for the week for me.
On Delves, you hunt for Coffer keys. It requires to beat Weekly quests, Events, Radiant Echoes to get coffer keys. So after those activity, then you do Bountiful Delves.
People there dont want to believe me that Delves is more grindy than M+.
But despite of Delves being somewhat grindy, they are fun. I love my experience of beating all Tier 8 Delves bosses. When I get enough higher gear level then I do M+. Then when I get higher gear level in M+ then I do Heroic Raid. When I get AoTC and KSM, that’s mission accomplish. I have the whole season to do it. I am not rushing.
YES!!!. The fact that the delves toolbar has no indication of how many points are needed for the next reward is insane. Just plain lazy on Bliz’s part.
There’s a thing you get at the end of completing a delve called delver’s journey progress. But sometimes it seems like it’s bugged and I don’t get it even tho I completed the delve. I feel like I do a lot of delves but I only unlocked the 2nd or 3rd tier thing. Something that is supposed to take longer in the season for sure, I worry I won’t completely finish it by the time Season 1 runs but I probably will.
I’m noticing the ‘delver’s journey progress’ icon thingie more when I do delves so I think they fixed the bug maybe?
