Experiencing high latency everywhere in game, ran WinMTR, please help me interpret it!

I’ve been experiencing high latency for the past week or so, as high as up to 14,000-15,000.

I’ve deleted cache, ran antimalware, restarted my computer, done the basic stuff essentially… and still cannot figure out what’s going on.

I contacted my ISP and they said they’ll get back to me in a couple business days, so still waiting to hear back.

In the meantime, I decided to run WinMTR to see if I could figure out what is going on but got lost once I saw the log…

Would appreciate any help in interpreting the results!

Your router has an 8% packet loss - that’s a lot! I’d start with giving it a “break” (unplug it for 5 minutes then plug back in). If your computer is connected to your network wirelessly, try an ethernet cable.

The WinMTR is showing packet loss at every step of the way, but since your router is dropping a ton of packets, it may be being caused by that. Hops 3, 5, and 7 are particularly awful in that result, but it’s hard to say if it’s a true issue with those nodes, or if it’s a bad result caused by your router. Start with your router and work from there.

Thank you so much!

There’s likely no packet loss at the router, it’s happening in the middle of the test. You sent 80 packets and only 73 made it to the servers, but that loss happened after the home equipment. If the router lost packets, you wouldn’t gain packets on the 2nd line.

Looks like the ISP hops are having high latency and that’s where packets are dropping.
