Experience Eliminated Buff REMOVED

As far as I know, but there is only one way to turn on or off the Buff “Experience Eliminated”. As an Alliance player this is done by talking to the NPC in Stormwind named Behsten.

Today, I played on my character Altantsetseg from the server Aerie Peak. I qued for a timewalking dungeon, and upon reaching the first boss, my character dinged level 11. This was not expected as I should have had the buff “Experience Eliminated” I had not paid Behsten to turn off the buff.

I immediately contacted a Gamemaster and explained the situation. I was told that upon reviewing the game logs that I did have experience gain turned on which led to my character reaching level 11. The cause could have been 1 of 4 things…

  1. Accidentally using a macro that might toggle experience gains on.
  2. Changing your XP settings via a setting in the interface or a third-party addon.
  3. Mistakingly using a level-boosting item or an experience-related buff that wasn’t removed.
  4. Got XP from a profession

I do not have a macro that can toggle experience gains, nor do I know of one, and if there is one, I would love to have it so I can turn off experience gains to create a new twink.

Again, I do not know of a setting or an addon that can turn off experience gains.

I did not use a level-boosting item, or use an experience-related buff other than those that are currently active, ( ie. Warband and Anniversary Event)

I did not gain XP from a profession…

I know that there is a way to check the game logs, as you should be able to tell when I would have paid to have the buff removed.

I then filed another ticket, and I was told that there was no way to bypass the restrictions and delevel the character manually. None of which I have asked for.

This character has always been a twink, and was designed and built around being a twink. There is no reason that I would intentionally removed the buff, and I feel that the system glitched causing the buff to be removed, I did not pay to have the buff removed.

I understand that nobody is going to respond to this issue, and that nobody is going to try to make it right. For all intents and purposes this character is dead.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post. I hope that nobody else loses their twink to this bug in the future.

I’m deeply disappointed with the current state of Blizzard’s customer service. Reflecting on my experiences from The Burning Crusade era, it seemed that GMs genuinely cared and were willing to assist wherever possible. Unfortunately, that level of service appears to have deteriorated significantly.

Today, interactions often feel terse and unhelpful, sometimes even condescending. For instance, Blizzard clearly knows that turning XP back on requires speaking with the same NPC who turned it off. Yet, they imply the fault lies with the player and treat us as if we are the problem. It’s frustrating to feel blamed for reporting issues in a game some of us have loyally played for 15 or more years.

It’s evident that the focus has shifted more towards monetization through monthly payments, “seasons,” and microtransactions rather than providing quality support. When we need assistance, we are met with indifference, it honestly feels like we are being told to kick rocks instead of receiving the help we deserve.

I sincerely hope that Blizzard addresses these concerns and works towards improving their customer service. Unfortunately, it seems that this is not a priority for them at the moment.

Did you happen to use Gear Update on that character? If so, that will also turn back on a character’s XP even if it was turned off before the update.
