Expansion idea

imagine, after this set of expansions, something happens at the end. A surge in power and electricity fills the air on one of the pillars of Thunderbluff and a massive, never before seen type of portal opens.
people poor out of this portal and are in distress, seeking shelter and relief. They appear to be fleeing a combat zone. They are all the known races and appear to be being led by an orc priest. Civilians, troops, injured and otherwise flood thorugh the portal. The citizens of Thunderbluf begin rendering aid, and assembling troops, just in case.
Battle erupts around the portal as an enemy of the fleeing comes out. It also appears the portal will not close.
Fighting at the portal, leading the refuges, is Prince Arthas Menethil (Paladin), his guard, Lady Sylvanas Windrunner, her archers and a Holy priest, Gul’dan. Nothing evil about them, saving people, and putting their lives on the line.
The enemy coming through is called out as the black guard. Wearing black and gold armor, with the stormwind emblem showing. They come through with demons on leashes, doing their bidding, Amongst the black guard are humans, dwarfs, trolls, etc.

This evil, parallel universe where stormwind rules with an iron fist, have enslaved or forced the other peoples of azeroth, outland, argus and places known and unknown.

This could be one, or multiple expansions of invasion, defense, fighting back and counter invasion.

I think a story line like this would be cool

I like it - what about using the scarlet crusade as the bad guys instead? They are a twisted bunch.

Reminds me of when Star Trek went to alternate universes where the known characters had evil twin versions. This could make an excellent timeline event like the Time Rifts in Tyrhold Reservoir!

It would also satisfy the Arthas lovers that wanted a redemption arc.

That would be an awesome use of the scarlet crusade and give them a hard core story line.

Star trek did some good work with alternate universes and I think WOW could also.
I wonder if the timeline idea could work. Like a mini expansion within one.

The baseline abstract here is the “parallel” notion. This has a lot of possibilities, because beyond that portal, there could be an alternate Azeroth and maps, with the same cities but governed by different factions as they are now. It’s like a whole WoW apart.
