Expansion feels like a Step backwards

I keep switching around alts because the gameplay overall with combat and classes is generally NOT fun.

  1. In Shadowlands you had legendaries which we could swap in and out to literally change the overall “feel” or rotation of the class, if something didn’t feel “just right” for a player you can literally just change the legendary, ALSO you could change the covenant which had another huge impact on how your character felt and played.

in DF, we get a more robust talent tree system (i want to be clear on this, it was a good idea switching to these types of talent trees again)

The problem is it didn’t seem like it was tested at all, that leaves me to point #2.

  1. testing, years ago you started moving towards this strategy of :giving twitch streamers and content creators beta access first and WAAAAAAY before everyone else.

when did i get invited? literally 30 days before release. Yeah guess what blizzard, that’s NOT enough time for the actual people to play and test and give feedback on your game to do that. So here we are.

  1. Torghast, I’m gonna get some flack for this, but personally i LOVED torghast, i did it every night, even when I didn’t really “need” too. It was SUPER fun, every run felt different and crazy sometimes and I always had something to work towards in torghast as well. Bring something like that back? i know it probably won’t happen.

  2. Overall feel of every class, So far i’ve got sort of a personal top 3 of who i like to play as, but guess what? those classes are literally about to get nerfed.

I think that is a major statement. I’m betting i’m not alone in this either, anyone else here having fun on classes that are about to get NUKED?
and the other classes are NOT fun to play. It means your balancing needs some…“balancing”

the problem with this is, i like many others are not going to pay a sub, months and months and months until you figure this out and get it right, this isn’t an “i quit post” im not quitting …yet. but i’m here to tell you, you’ve got a very short window of time to get this right.

Buff and fix gameplay styles of all the weak classes, fast.

If the classes are actually fun to play, does it really matter that they get balanced? Does being S or A tier DPS change how much you enjoy the class?

Sounds to me that you like topping the charts more than you actually like the class.

Yes it does, because you need to be also asking this question - WHY are they fun to play?

“does being S tier dps”

No, i don’t care about DPS rankings, what about Soloability because the class is strong? some of these nerfs do more then effect a DPS tier list.

Because wow community is program to want to be overpower so they can rush through content easier.

Than complain they got nothing to do.

Oh…so this is the problem

i’m waiting for you to list the problem?

No, i don’t want to rush through content, i also have not rushed through content. I don’t even have anyone at rank 10 rep yet.

There’s plenty of STUFF to do, and plenty of CONTENT, notice how my original post did not talk about “lack of content” I didn’t say that.

Moving forward ain’t always a good thing: just ask Wil E. Coyote.

Considering the game peaked during WOTLK with MOP being a close second, maybe a step backwards is the best thing.

disagree here, I find new talent trees make for better build options than shadowland covs ect.

not a big deal

HARD agree here - torghast might be the funnest piece of content wows ever made but i’d like to see leaderboards and only cosmetics as rewards (maybe even solo ratings)

sorta agree here - cant really feel comfy with a class cause hard nerfs/buffs are constantly happening and its demotivating

It definitely is a step back for sure, but at the same time I think they have set themselves up to be able to take larger strides moving forward.

I agree. We may be let down, but I can see potential 100%

I’m glad they changed the game and removed all those convoluted systems. Now I can log on and do the content I want and then log off. If you expect the game to entertain you on one character 8 hours a day that is why Shadowlands and BFA was bad, catering to people like you.

On your first point, I feel like the majority of the playerbase just googled whatever the best covenant and legendary was and used that. If someone was really using some sub-optimal choice just for “feel” than more power to them, but I don’t think that describes how most people approached it. (Some specs had more variation, but for Brewmaster at least, 99% of players just used Stormstout’s Last Keg, for example. You pretty much had to take it.)

And now in many cases, the final few points you spend in a talent tree are the Shadowlands legendaries and covenant abilities, carried forward. (So for Brewmaster right now, you can use the Necrolord ability, the Kyrian ability, or now both).

I don’t have any comments about it feeling any more or less tested than Shadowlands, but I actually think so far I’m seeing more variation in builds across the talent trees than the illusion of choice that was present in SL.

You can change your rotation with talents. And if a class is about to get nerfed just reroll another one, it doesn’t take more than a day or two to get to 70 at this point.

Mount abilities and upgrading professions seems like a step in the right direction because I’m having fun and loving it, especially when it changes costumes for gathering and I like the animation of your dragon swooping down as you jump onto its back ready to fly.

Its pretty kick butt X-Pack so far.

Edit: I also like the new talent tree, it’s fun finding a rotation that suits you.

funny because a lot of content creators were worried about all the players so conditioned to do the awful end game system stuff because of so many players came into wow only used to all the Awful system grinding they dont know how to pull back , this is a perfect example of that.

My only real complaint about DF is all the rep / renown grinding. Why do I needs to advance renown with 5 factions? Terrible.

The talents and professions are a home run IMO.
