Expand Abandonment Debuff, Build Player Cohesion

Don’t even just stop at doubling the time; Make it account (or faction) wide. Way too many people are too comfortable peacing out on a whim, potentially (more often than not) causing their team to lose. And as we know, when one person leaves, it’s not unusual for someone to follow their lead. A 15 minute Debuff limited to that one character clearly means nothing.

Do this for, if no other reason, the sake of teaching players to work together and stick it out for a few minutes – in a section of the game focused around teamwork.

Alternatively, to make the casual PvP experience less frustrating or likely to be a waste of queue time. People who don’t have time to play competitively shouldn’t be stuck with an experience that has a high chance of hitting the fan at a moment’s notice because aforementioned repercussions are basically non-existent.

I’d definitely like to see deserter be account wide

Too many times people say “doesn’t matter if i afk out, i just swap to an alt and if that bg goes bad i just afk and go back to first alt”

I mean have either of you asked yourselves what the gain in staying in that clearly lost bg is?

I mean its clear that the team isn’t trying and wont try so why waste your time and get farmed til the end to get a fraction of the honor you would otherwise?

Sportsmanship? please

Blizzard has made it to where a individual player no matter how great will not be able to win the game all they at the absolute most will be making a slight inconvience for the enemy team currently steamrolling

You stay in a losing BG because the system will inflict it on someone else if you leave. You just do your best, make them earn it.

You just need to play a ranged

A destro/demo can just tank melee all game without a healer and be pretty cozy

Melee require a healer, ranged don’t

I just got wrecking ball on my hunter a few days ago, didn’t even have a healer

Good luck convincing people in modern day to do that to much selfishness

But why would you do that it was not your fault that you got rolled in the fight you were top damage or heals sooo all the people who did bad damage and are there to honor farm can stay there and do exactly that farm honor and get farmed for honor

If it’s a camp I do my best to break it or farm them back if I can’t or I’ll focus objectives and try to win that way. I might find the players on my team who are worthwhile and do guerrilla runs, it depends on the situation and what resources are available.

It doesn’t matter what others do, I can only control my own behavior and my experience has been justifying it through the actions of others just further perpetuates the behavior. Spit in the ocean but you res when you die. Try to take as many as you can with you.

have you asked yourself if it’s a waste of time for you why you should make someone else backfill the mess?

Nothing is stopping them from also afking out.

Then 3 people are inconvenienced similarly.

And the option is there for every single person that gets matched in that game.
Honestly, a lot of the games joined after the start are salvageable and/or about to end.
People aren’t going to play the same way everyone else does, randoms are the compromise… if you want to set rules for your group, then you set up a ranked match.

I understand the frustration but if a game is unfun, whatever your parameter for fun is, then people should be able to leave without disastrous results. It is their leisure time as well as yours so everyone has some agency to what they wish to do with it.

Someone has to brake the cycle and I usually heal so couldn’t care less about deaths. My staying might make the game slightly better for several people, fair trade.

It would be better to see some attention on the cause before punishing the effects.
Quick examples:
Enters gy/base camp in progress.
Died in team fight.
Pizza at door.

They are all different spectrums of the afk, what’s the % of players who just exit game and do something else hobby related? Those Hogwarts sales are wild!
At the end of the day we need more players to stick around, not less.
We can dream about methods which keep everyone with us, something exists.

I say we have a blizz exec come to every subscribers home and chain their ankle to their desk and give them a 6 month sub.

I’m down with this, but tbh I’d like to see a surrender option go hand in hand with it. Sometimes you just end up in a hopelessly outmatched WSG where everyone is being salty and the enemy team wont cap a third flag. I can’t really blame people for just leaving that.

No one is entitled to tell others how to spend their time. Deserter is fine as is and it’s not going anywhere.

What is with this laser focus on player cohesion? Everyone should be focused on themselves

If Blizzard isn’t going to make the effort the balance games, why should people be expected to stay, if you force people who don’t want to be there, they will just AFK. Also it’s completely possible to circumvent this de-buff when leaving, so it’s useless anyways.

Have to agree here. When one team is clearly going to win and there’s nothing anyone can do about it, it’s kind of like the 10-run rule in baseball. I mean it’s always possible to turn it around, I’ve seen it happen. But unless I need the loser share of honor I usually take the 15-minute timeout.

The main problem, in epics at least, is terrible match-making (few or no heals) or sync-queues vs pugs. Sometimes the match is decided before the gates open.

What they need to is (A) allow us to spec change to ANY spec at least before the gates open. If they can’t balance specs then let us do it ourselves. (B) Break sync-queues with some kind of randomizer. They’ll still happen anyway when few players are queueing, but sync-queues are probably the most abusive thing going on in epics. And (C) reward all honor at the end of the match. Then if you choose to take deserter you leave with nothing.

I have a love/hate relationship with sync-queues. Some of the best times I’ve ever had in WoW were in sync-queue matches. Not in beating pugs, but in tough matches and in the humor on Discord. But I don’t like that I’m ruining the PvP for players queueing according to the rules. I come and go with PvP communities. When I feel bad about it I leave them.

Imo the worst way to play this game
