Exodar Modernization

My focus in Warcraft usually centers around what’s happening back on Azeroth; I’ve never really cared too much about the hyper focus on singular expansion themes that ignore the rest of the world. One thing that’s been sadly left behind as we all move forward has been the Draenei (amongst many other races), and their crashed ship - the Exodar.

I’ve been trying to imagine what the Draenei would do now that their main adversary, the Legion, is defeated: establishing a long term settlement seems like a reasonable path forward, especially considering the addition of the Lightforged to their overall population. Many of the Outland Draenei could end up migrating to Azeroth now as well.

So here is my pitch for a Draenei city built around the crashed ship: Exodaruu.

Some features of note:

Overview

Much like Shattrath, the city would be set beneath ground elevation, and the main gate in the east opens to a bridge which would cross over towards the Seat of the Naaru, the main entrance to what was the Exodar. Visitors would get a good view of the city out to the left and right of them as they walk across.

Much of the mountain the Exodar crashed into would be excavated to make room, leaving the rest of the Azuremyst Isle intact and untouched. The ship would be disassembled to a large degree to provide the building resources.

Seat of the Naaru

The central core of the Exodar would be exposed from the mountain and treated much in the same way as the city center of Shattrath, as a seat of power and governance. There’d also be portals here to other cities/the Outlands.

The Vault of Lights would be the only other chamber of the original Exodar which would be preserved inside, which is where Velen would rule from.

K'uraari Bazaar

Named for one of the Naaru which brought the Draenei to Draenor, this would be an open air market with stalls spanning the length of the district. There would be canvas coverings hanging overhead to help keep temperatures cool.

Terrace of Order

Much like holy magic is a critical part of the Draenei's way of life, so too is the arcane; this would be an academy and center for magical study and expansion - overlooking the ocean.

Elemental Rise

The Broken would lead the Draenei’s shamanistic rites and rituals from on top of the mountain into which the Exodar crashed, transforming it into a blossoming garden where elementals are able to commune with the Draenei.

Not a bid fan of the new name but hey, details.

Otherwise I love the idea and have been anxiously waiting for the BC zones to get an update, the Exodar especially. I honestly have no idea what the devs were thinking when they designed Exodar. Like yeah, I get it for their story, but they really said “make this as unappealing as possible.”

What I would add, however, is making it the size of Suramar, Boralas, or Zul’dazar. Add portions of the city that can be used for questing, leveling, and exploration, even just thematic areas where there is maybe a vender and class trainer, max, but otherwise open to use with a few NPC’s scattered around to make it feel lived. Really give people a reason to be there, and RPers an opportunity for continued use.

WoD Shattrath had such promise until max level when it became demon and Iron Horde infested.

Big cities would be great for all races; Suramar really was a fantastic project all around - it’s just unfortunate that there isn’t a final “end of the war” phase that’s player friendly.

I also need Blizzard to get on top of making raid and dungeon exteriors available in the open world.

Oshugan too. Don’t forget the other Naaru.

To be honest, they could just use the Vindicaar for the LF Dranei and then fix the existing Exodar and camp directly over SW harbor.

Also: allow playable Broken Dranei. That would be fantastic!

I’m excited to see interest in furthering the Draenei community. Since the Legion is no longer a threat, I think they would welcome the opportunity for PERMANENCE. The name of their “land” would reflect that. What would Draenei be for “New Argus” or somesuch? I too feel I’m quibbling and that ANY efforts in this vein would be great!
