Exile's reach is just a HORRIBLE experience to force upon new players

I did it once BY CHOICE and the questline is horrid. Now, while getting my fiancee to play with me, we planned to just get him one of the love is in the air toys, and he could not pick to not go there.

The NPCs are just chattering BS nonstop at you and he hated it (understandably, I think that’s the worst questline I’ve ever done on WoW myself).

Seriously, at least don’t make it a forced choice. Give any characters the option. It’s just BS

Instead of being greeted by a warm welcome in Stormwind he got to do something he hated for 60 minutes and wanted it to be over ASAP. And we had no choice in the matter. slow clap

It’s not forced. You can do that or you can do the race starting zone.

You cannot if it’s your first character. I could pick, he could not. I was watching his game on-stream. There was no option. A quick search pointed me to people saying the exact same thing.

Its 10 levels and done in 30 min or less. If you cant stand that, how are you going to handle the rest of the game?

New players don’t enjoy that luxury.
Forced Exile’s Reach until they’ve gotten at least one character to 50.

Ok. Wasnt aware of that. I just knew new players had to play the last expansion first on new characters.

They really, REALLY need to stop with the un-skippable character banter. It’s so, so bad.

All we wanted to do was do the love is in the air quests for today. And we could not choose to do that. That’s bad design. And that’s all I’m saying.

He’s not even gonna start playing right now, we just wanted to get the item for next time. At least he’ll have plenty of time to recover, because I also just wanted that place to be over when I did it before this time, and I was having some amount of fun roleplaying with a gang of friends. But by god does that place have the poorest storywriting ever (wouldn’t be so bad if all of it wasn’t naggingly voice acted, so you never get a moment of peace)

I get that it’s not for everyone, but it’s really not that bad. It’s over pretty quickly.

YES. We were skipping through quests so they never shut up!! The mobs are done and dead in seconds for the most part and then we get to hear the next bit of yadayadaydaydyaydyaydyayd

Like for crying out loud, one part of dialogue goes like “They’ll revive the dragon! They’re gonna revive him! We cannot let them revive him! By gods we will stop them using dark magic to revive him!” (it’s not using those words but it’s basically making a super simple thing super long by repeating it over and over. SHEEESH)

AT LEAST SAY IT ONLY ONCE. WE ARE NOT STUPID.

It’s fast n easy.

Was yall RP walkin?

It’s pretty cringe but flows well and ends fast. Just don’t pay attention to the dialogue… I’m guessing this is some sort of weird bait tho.

I made new characters with 4 other people and we did exiles reach together RP walking, so it was very long. And actually fun not for the quests but the people.

This time it was just me and my fiancee speedin’ thru it and trying to nab some jokes and have fun at the stupid.

IDC how little bad anyone thinks it is. It wasn’t so bad for me personally either. I’ve been playing WoW for 10 years and I know the rest of the game is great. But IT SHOULD BE OPTIONAL AND IT IS NOT

The option of the older starting areas are not available for new players.

Huh…didnt know that.
That was a dumb blizzard decision. Some of the racial starting zones are MUCH better than the island…Wandering Isle, for example.

I was not too fond of that area. I only did it one time to see what it was like. I have no desire to go there again.

It takes like 20 minutes lol

I agree the option should be there, but I also think it’s perfect for NEW players. If you have a coach or even basic knowledge though skipping should always be possible

Right?! I’m stumped it’s not a choice. He even used to play a long time ago but not sure he used a different account now, he probably did.

I also really hate whenever I start a new game and they shove a forced unskippable tutorial down my throat. So I get it. Literally any of the starting zones are nicer to play, and you can go anywhere at any time.

The only old starting zone I hate is the Gnome’s Starting area.

Never did that one, so wouldn’t be able to comment. Although I might’ve completed some quests for loremaster… but that wasn’t as a low level character so
