Can anyone explain why several high-rated rets are taking this talent? I’ve been testing it out and its return on investment seems very underwhelming - Especially at the cost of 3 Holy Power and having to wait 8 seconds for it to actually do something with the hopes of the person you dropping it on not having an answer to it before it goes off.
I’m guessing just potential for over the top burst damage during coordinated attacks, but I’m no expert.
I think it can be dispelled too, maybe just to trigger a healer dispel because because I’m sure it rarely ever kills anyone.
ES is just the “best of the worst.”
The goal of ES is to time it with a Radiant Decree strike just as it lands. It’s not always easy to do as people will pop defensives or try and CC you but the main idea is this:
- Seraphim
- 3 HP
- Final Reckoning
- Execution Sentence
- Divine Toll
- Roll Face on Keyboard smashing as much dps as you can
- 3 HP
- Radiant Decree
- Execution Sentence Hits
Radiant Decree is a very powerful attack right now and that damage gets added to ES along with all your other damaging abilities, so the goal is to time that Radiant Decree as close as you can to just about when ES lands to get a 2 hit combo.
Radiant Decree - 150-250k damage
Execution Sentence - 75-150k damage
ES doesnt gain the fr modifier if its used before fr hits. If you wanted to min max you would fr first. You also dont want to always use it with fr. A lot of goes you want to go for the 1-2 shot. The fr radiant toll or tol fr situational. Es is a powerful burst go on its own. Timing it to end when cds timeout is big too. Its also good at forcing cds in general even if you dont stack it.
It kills people all the time. Its great in arena.
Can’t it just be dispelled or not anymore, if its killing people isn’t the healer just bad?

Well it definitely could be dispelled before, so that’s good I guess it can actually kill people now lol.
It can be stopped with grounding totem.
Rather than looking at it this way, you should instead look at it as costing 3 HP but deals more damage than any of your other spenders that can potentially force/bait out a minor defensive. I wouldn’t say it’s amazing, but it’s okay.
You can definitely do this, but very often FR especially during will often be responded with a defensive like cloak, life cocoon, etc, anyways, so it doesn’t make too much to try to pump ES everything into it. Oftentimes, using ES more flexibly or even just delaying it to just before FR wears off can be more beneficial.
It is possible to remove it with stuff like Cloak of Shadows and ground it right before it hits.
I really haven’t been playing much lately so I’m not entirely sure when this is a good idea to use tbh. As Urthemeil said it does yield more dmg than any other spender but there are some drawbacks to it.
Cloak of Shadows will remove it but also many other short cds like grounding totem at the end, feign death will basically neutralize it, I think DH can also use their 1 sec immunities to cancel it and I think shadowmeld also cancels the last tick.
I see many rets who are actually playing use it, still undecided but I imagine it’s being used for a reason lol.
