I, like many others are very excited for Classic to release, and I cannot wait to level to 60 and raid....HOWEVER...12 years ago I had plenty of time to raid on a set schedule. My work now consists of rotating days and shifts, which obviously won't work for set time raiding. Anyone else going to have this issue to work through as well?
I am. My wife and I played Wrath quite a bit before we had our first kid. Now we have three and they are used to staying up later than most young kids. They might have to go to bed early on Friday/Saturday nights...
Then again, we were in a fairly small and casual guild and didn't do much serious raiding. I think we went through Naxx and started on ICC. She never played Vanilla so it should be interesting.
I suspect this will be an issue for many since the game is so old, and many who are eager to play have different life responsibilities now. It might change how the community functions a bit.

I agree, its a very weird situation. I'll at least give it a shot and see if I can make it work somehow.
Not me. I highly doubt I'll ever raid.
I'm not going to have the same issue - as I have more than enough free time. However, comparing my casual raiding in BC with my relatively quick burnout on progression raiding in Wrath, my plan is to level multiple alts to 60 before I even bother trying to pull together people to raid. And once I do, I hope to make it accessible to lots of people who wouldn't normally join a raiding guild or be able to make all raid times.
Look at it this way, in a year there is not going to be any new raids or progression, the same can be said for another ten years.
You don't need to be as committed toward WoW as people used to be, at some point people will just be doing raids for the fun of it, not to get better gear, they will be doing it because they enjoy spending that time with others in a raid setting.
And that is the cool thing about it, you really don't need to be a fanatic to get this stuff done, it may take you a while, but it is going to be there waiting for you.

I won’t be able to raid like I used to. But with the vast knowledge and previous experience I think pugs will be more common. Actually gearing up in pugs in vanilla was a nightmare... but not completely impossible with persistence and lucky /rolls.
Things that took me a long time to figure out and accomplish I’ll be able to do much more efficiently. So I take solace I should be able to have about the same amount of success without near as much time investment.

tons of ppl in raiding guilds on lightshope/northdale
log on for 1-2 hours a day (most of ppl that play with me are 25-35 with exception of couple 17-18)
some ppl just log on weekends , farm some gold , get consumables and log back on raid night for 2-3 hours - u can clear mc in around 45-60 minutes without going fully autistic , same goes for bwl - aq and naxx take more time especially for the non autistic guilds
ppl who cry and complain about the time investment shouldnt play games anyway in the 1st place, go figure out your real life 1st so u got some free time for hobbies - and if your rl is so busy that u cant play a game for 1 or 2 hours than dont , dont make it everybodys problem

Me neither, sometimes it seems nobody realizes or remembers that there was a lot more to do than just that.
don't worry man, I'm in the same boat, just join the right type of server and guild
There will be tons of guilds for all types of players
Also most cool raid guilds (the ones who dgaf about server firsts, logging fast kill times etc) are fine with "social" members and will bring them along without expecting you to make every raid consistently

No! Stop It! You know better!
But any ways, I am in the same boat. I was 15-19 ish when the game was out originally. SO I had nothing but time. Now I work 50 hours a week. I plan on making the time to raid. I happen to have Wednesday off so I can be up late of Tuesday(reset day) that was the day every one raided in Vanilla anyways. Like some of these guys above said. MC and bwl can be cleared in a matter of hours once your guild has some gear.
.
Be careful, to some around these parts, that there is blasphemy.10/29/2018 02:02 PMPosted by TayrahI would just like to enter dungeons while I'm In a zone. Finish quests rather then abandoning them. A new Dungeon Finder perhaps realm only, zero or low xp would be nice. But, then again what do I know!
There are going to be more people like yourself than you think. Me included.
Family, kids, Soccer coach, the whole nine. If it takes me 6 months to get to 60, I won't be surprised.

Even as a Casual player, you will be able to get into raids,
everyone needs that 40-man roster, any dps is better then running 30-35 people
also Onyxia and the World Dragons are both very puggable,
for the day/night your ready to try, Also the 4 Reputations that give Epic
items are :
1. Argent Dawn (WPL) (trinkets + Raid-worthy high end Blues)
2. Cenarion Circle (Sithilis)
3. Thorium Brotherhood (depending on what class your playing)
4. Brood of Nozdormu (epic ring)
Honorable mention - ZG has some rep. worthy items.
UBRS and LBRS /Winterspring has some Epic quest reward items,
Varies by class.
so you CAN get raid geared without raiding as a casual player, and you
can farm Onyxia, World Dragons, and the Sithilis Elite (Champions) from the Chaos summoning stones.

I too am about 12 years older. The nice thing this time around is since it will be capped at classic content, I fully intend to smell the roses along the way. I will raid when I have time to raid, if I choose to raid. No rush, no treadmill.
Well put.10/28/2018 12:17 AMPosted by Briseyit may take you a while, but it is going to be there waiting for you.
