Ex-private server guys' thoughts on Classic?

i do not care what other people do with their time?

this is not news to me i said the same thing back then but you know.if blizzard made classic wow servers F2p that would eliminate most the private servers imo. make WOLK sub based like it is now you do not need to buy wotlk just need to have a sub. then latest exp you have to buy expansion like normal. player would be more inclined to spending the 15$ to play their toons in the next expansion by then they know they enjoy the game

If I’m going to be honest, Classic Wrath is worse than a pserver so far, but I’ll stick with it from raidlog point to see what changes they make. Heroic+ might work, dungeons are generally fun to do, but no reason to do them, if heroic+ is done well, I could enjoy Classic Wrath more.
Leveling right now is pain, and every pserver has improved this by boosting xp rates. It really is too slow right now, especially for old world content, takes days and days of leveling to just get to Northrend.

I think it was about 64 hours to just get 1-68. And that’s a lot, most of us got jobs, some got jobs + education, some job+family, it’s not easy to spare 80-100 hours per alt, when you want to try several classes. It’s whole point of Classic, playing old classes, with that old wow feel.

I would say one thing Classic does better is no gear buying that some pservers offer, but gdkps are rampant and you can buy most gear anyway. So not that big of a difference for me personally. Gear never really isn’t that big of a deal if you played Wrath before and know all fights. You can get gear anyway.

Yes that question. Why do you care if otjers go some where else to get their WoW fix?

Me and my wife have talked about playing DF but after SL and other terrible expansions, we’re very unsure if we’re going to play DF. There are a few things they seem to do right but we’re going to wait a while. For now, I’m enjoying classic as it is.

I don’t know if my private server experience counts as it was like 10+ years ago… but classic is better in every way. No donor sets and no lag… just runs smoother overall. Again, not sure if my experience counts as it isn’t close to recent.

apologise that was my answer to the question lol i do not care they can do what they want but i can still have a input because i play this game to

i hear you i come back long enough to level a demon hunter in BFA i think it was and it just a different game think i saw 2 people the whole time once i got max level i lost interest. logged onto to retail last night for the first time try my pally where are my buffs!?? is that not a thing now lol. as a plus i saw heaps of people this time

I never played on private server but i did play original wrath and was no lifer back there, if i will rate each, i’ll give original wrath 8.5/10 while i’ll give classic wrath 3/10 for too many reasons.

Some of the changes I saw in SL i liked like being able to play outlaw rogue more like classic combat rogue. Having a talent point that gave combat a charge like ability where you have your blades thrust out infront of you. Pretty cool.

Other classes were just meh to me. I played ret pali and disc priest in wotlk and i agree with you on paladin but omg disc priest is completely a different class. On one hand it makes sense on another i miss my wotlk disc priest.

open transfers to pvp servers fairlina and it wiould be lsihglty better than other options

they’ll probably hate it because nO RdF wAhHahH

also the problem with private servers is they’re 95% based in Europe or somewhere in that area which makes it hard for US players to find groups to raid unless they don’t work and can play during the day because EU raids at around 1-2pm US times. That’s the only positive i can see “ex” players liking

yes because private servers are lke x3 or even x7 xp

Some are very global. One i played on was a classess tbc and seasonal vanilla server had NA guilds that raid US evening hours and open scedules on weekends

I mention Lordaeron by name. It is x1 Blizzlike-hardcore realm. aka all raid content is scripted to be harder. And Naxx 30% buff doesn’t even come close to difficulty of Lordaeron.

All bosses HPs are increased, AoE/Damage buffed and all enrage timers are cut in half or something along the lines.

nah the ones that are stable are 90% balkans

Yes i know i was in the guild who tested them to be harder. Our guild literally were the ones telling malaco/proterean to make adjustments based on how it was. I think we did a good job. Too bad our guild died a few weeks after lordaeron launched (back in 2015)

I am horde so doing bgs is atrociously bad. Horde is the worse I have ever witnessed in any game ever at this point. Horde will que wsg and literally stand out in the middle hitting dps buttons waving to the ally flag carrier as he runs by game after game.

Private server pvp was a million times better. They actually made changes based off the community wants and needs early on.

Blizzards forever issue is that they WAIT waaaaaaaay to long to make a change the entire world can see is needed. Arena gear ratings in WOTLK is a gigantic of example of them missing the boat.

That actually sounds more like what Blizzard should’ve done. I understand the only releasing Naxx at this point. No rdf i can rap my head around, the not buffing 70 dungeons both normal and heroic and then raid bosses was completely foolish.

I would, Blizzard is terrified of the general public. Possibly as they should be. Put it this way, the go banning all those bot accounts and those bot accounts that aren’t banned run to the forums and start smearing Blizzard and causing drama and other jump on it and see it thinking its true. It doesn’t take much.

  • Pets getting set to 20% hp when you dismount, regardless if they had full HP. Major issue for locks + hunters.

  • Obscene amount of lag in Wintergrasp. It has, for the most part, gotten better, but it can still get pretty rough to even unplayable some matches.

  • Speaking of WG, Spirit Keepers disappearing for up to a minute anytime a Workshop status changes. Adding on to the full 30 second res and the res cap, can absolutely screw over an entire WG.

  • When boarding someone’s Siege Engine in WG, some players are unable to fire the cannon. The UI simply won’t allow them, for whatever reason. Default UI or otherwise.

  • Layers not functioning correctly. This one is relatively new in my experience, but sometimes you just won’t layer swap (or even will swap to an entirely different layer) despite being in a group with people for lengthy periods of time (long enough to run 2-3 heroics should absolutely put you all on the same layer.)

  • The AH is still a laggy mess, if you use addons at all. And given it’s the Classic AH, you need addons if you’re using the AH in any capacity beyond dumping your bags or buying <5 things a day.

  • Certain mining/herbing nodes being inaccessible due to phasing issues, regardless of what phase in a zone you’re in. While underground mines/herbs have been an issue since OG Vanilla, this one is actually new with Wrath Classic.

  • The LFG system not letting you browse other groups/people queue’d for the content you’re queue’d for unless you reload, and that’s if a reload fixes it.

  • WSG ties not ending despite the timer hitting 0.

I’m sure there’s no shortage of other bugs I’ve missed entirely, but that’s just some of the ones I’ve experienced in the past few weeks.
