Evoker would get a lot less hate if we could just use our aspect form

After setting up a female Dracthyr to look extremely pretty in the character design, you can’t change the fact that you’re a big flapping lizard flying around and flailing like an iguana in heat. Personally, this doesn’t bother me that much. But I have gotten a lot of hate messages from people for being evoker. For example, here are some of the things I’ve been messaged as an evoker healer:

I can’t believe you would play that thing, man"

holy crap you look so dumb. Play a real healer

“sorry, our guild really wants someone who is a druid, priest, or paladin healer. Evokers just aren’t as cool, man.”

Streamers, especially women, really enjoy playing some of the more pretty and picturesque looking races, classes, and setups. For example, there’s one in particular I see often on Twitter and twitch for mistweaver. It’s no surprise, really. Lots of gorgeous transmog, the class identity is peaceful and serene, and kawaii if you set it up the right way. It’s not hard to have a beautiful looking elf MW. Evoker is NOT often used. But imagine now if evoker didn’t have to have this silly flapping dragon form constantly. If you want to enable it, sure. But if you don’t, why should you have to have it? That’s what I don’t understand.

You can play fully in the visage form, in TWW, I hear anyway.

I personally don’t like them because they don’t really resemble dragons.

Dragons are big, and walk on all fours, generally.

If Evokers were like Druids, and had a full dragon-form instead of a visage, I’d play one 100%.

They simply were not what was advertised- I was told I’d be getting a dragon race, not twink geckos with wings lol.

That being said, I enjoy their visage forms more than the Dracthyr/Lizard form lol.

I just wish they looked more like… dragons.

Menacing, not friendly and looking like a lost puppy lol.

Drac can, evoker CANNOT

This is fair, what is not fair is us not having a choice… same mistake as Worgen, years later. It shows they haven’t learned a thing.

I will add more hate messages I have seen for dracthyr this season:

You look like a naga that didn’t understand the assignment

Guess the hulk found a lizard gf

That creepy freaky thing is so cursed, how did they even make it onto the white board during brainstorm

Honestly, I can see why.

Some of the abilities would look weird, like a visage form casting the breath ability, or the flying-over one.

It’d be like if Druids could use animal abilities outside of their respective forms.

Not that I say there shouldn’t be a work around, but I certainly see why they left it that way.

Yikes, these are pretty bad lol. I also got kicked a couple days ago from a heroic, one guy messaged me and said the reason for kick was “evoker”

Just yesterday on my Worgen warrior I got a random gnome who whispered me:

Gnome: fugly
Me: I know gnomes are.
Gnome: …
Me: It’s ok it’s a well known fact.

So I wouldn’t be surprised if Dracthyr get it too. I just laugh at anyone who tries to do that. I have a little trick. “You see before you a vast field of nothing. Tis the field on which I grow my cares. As thou can see it is barren.”

Those abilities could just very briefly turn you into your lizard form as needed, and then back into visage form immediately after. Like DH briefly going demon form when using eyebeam or whatever.

Oh and visage is a horrible concept that should not have existed.

Dracthyr are joining a faction and taught how to use a visage to make others comfortable. Just don’t join the faction, perhaps? Makes no sense to join a faction that you know nothing about and won’t accept you for who you are.

And if choosing a form for subterfuge, dracthyr would use the opposing faction’s form.

This would make sense for a real situation, but this is a video game played by humans. Many of us humans enjoy the evoker class and would like to play it, but find the dracthyr race to be ugly, goofy, and all around repulsive. The requests for perma-visage have nothing to do with game lore, its just players wanting to have fun with a class they enjoy without hating their character.

How is that a gnome joke?

You could replace “gnome” with pretty much anything and the joke would be the same. Good try at humor, though?

Would be like asking death knights not to use undead spells because death is sacred.

(How did they handle death knights in WOTLK? in China) cause they gave skeletons clothes because death is sacred over there.

How “ugly” something is, doesn’t justify a change.

Blizzard created Mechagnomes… instead of something pretty.

The solution is to create something pretty instead of something “ugly” and giving it a visage form, fixed to one race.

Eh, that’s a lot more specific than people simply wanting to play a cool character in a rpg game.

I think its just a problem of a new fun class being limited to one very wierd race. Not just a fun class, but a class that now has a very unique playstyle that no other class (and thus no other race) has access to.

I don’t really see any downside for perma-visage or reason not to do it.

Or decide what’s more important, playing an evoker with combat abilities that require the dracthyr form to make sense and the auto visage switch out of combat, or something you think is pretty 100% of the time.

If you’re getting kicked because of looks thats a new one on me. Sounds like unpleasant people anyway.

I see a downside - so Blizzard doesn’t have to work on Dracthyr transmog.

Visage is a stand-in to save time on art assets. Imagine no visage, Blizz would have to make dracthyr work with transmog.

And in interest of saving money (development costs) no development is better than permanent visage.
