Evoker was more fun during season 1

I think the mastery change was terrible, in beginning of season 1 you couldstack mastery to 100 and 1 shot people. Now it is so boring, dragonrage is not scary any more

Season 1 was trash

So you’ve essentially explained why it got changed, and contributed nothing else.

The mastery change(s) were good for the spec overall, and it likely needs a rework moving forward because it’s problematic as a mastery.

I disagree season 1 was definitely a bad start to both dev and pres.

Yea you could one shot but that’s bad for the game and if you failed the rest of the issues like clipping disintegrate, the mathematical formula based on haste for dragon rage window extension, the lack of dmg towards the bottom of mobs health which was especially prevelant on raids, etc were all feel bad.

Pres had some meaningful tweaks as well to make it more fluid.

The current dev feels better overall in all gameplay and just needs a change to mastery eventually as it’s just not a great option for future balance. Ideally a way to smooth out dragon rage would be nice too so it’s not such a feast or famine in dungeons

the first season was a nightmare, the mastery was even worse (it was stronger, which wasn’t good). You used a fire breath in the pull on a DG and died, it already happened that a raid boss turned on me and I died.
and at the end of the fights you simply had no damage. Personally, I would like a complete overhaul of the mastery, redoing it from 0, I think that of all the devoker points, this is the one that needs the most changes.

Season 1 was hot garbage design.

Clipping disintegrate even more aggressively because the reductions were on cast rather than on tick. No guaranteed essence generator. Doing tank damage at the end of encounters outside of dragonrage. Also all of the bugs. Remember eternity surge just not going off sometimes (even multiple times in a row), and disintegrate sometimes requiring four essence instead of three?

The only thing i’ll give season 1 is build diversity. There was a firestorm build and it had a niche.

That wasn’t a design change thing, that was literally just that council made firestorm playable. Which will be back with fated, assuming it happens like we expect it to.

If anything, that council build should be spicier with the changes they made to that side of the tree.

I wouldn’t hate them making firestorm work in more content, though. I think it’s literally as simple as changing the ability to be targeted and follow that target, sort of like ravager for warriors.

At any rate, the tree is set up to invalidate that side of the tree for any content where you want ST damage, so until that’s addressed it will make very little difference how attractive they make red-heavy builds.

It’s a real shame that firestorm is such an undesirable talent. It looks fun but being so generally weak just makes it worthless. They should replace the talent that can proc more pyre explosions with a firestorm proc on the main target instead. That’d be great. It’d be even better if they gave us that talent without harming our single target dps too, but that seems like a hopeless dream now. No way way can excel at both single target AND AoE with a single talent tree build, because no class can be allowed to do THAT, right…?

Yeah I mean there needs to be a trade-off of single target DPS. That said, it’s not even worth considering in its current state.

I’ll be interested to see how hero talents and redesigns shake out, because I’ll be very surprised if this isn’t being reimagined for TWW
