It is doable but there always seems to be an invisible wall when you soar in as soon as you enter the caverns proper that kills all your momentum.
But yes, there is literally no logical reason why Soar cannot be treated as full dragonflight. None whatsoever.

I think this has to do with the changing of zones as the caverns aren’t actually on the same map, but yeah.
Iirc the reason was something something about Soar unlike DR being usable on the main land something something
As we already know they are adding DR to the mainlands soon, i hope they remember Soar and just update it to work like any normal DR mount once they do

All of their reasons for why Soar sucks …suck… Soar is already nerfed on old continents compared to the Isles. No reason it has to be nerfed on in DF if they’re clearly willing to make it work differently in other zones.
Also, Blizzard announced that dragonriding isn’t coming to the old continents until much later in the xpac. 10.1.5 will have the races, but they said we’ll have to fly the old way between them.

It’s just a racial, it’s okay. With that said, I personally would rather see Soar changed to just be straight-up dragonriding for us. I’d rather fly around on my wings than on the back of a larger dragon.

This topic has been brought up since beta, the only commentary blizz has given on the issue is we can’t jeopardize the sanctity of pet battles. Either they don’t care or are maliciously designing the game so that dracthyr have gimp flight.

i only ever use soar when i’m out of vigor on my normal dragonriding mount. that’s really its only use aside from being the only dragonriding you can currently do on the rest of azeroth

I like soar its a fun way to travel sometimes, you also don’t have to cancel a mount to start attacking

Since dragon riding is coming to the old world, there isn’t really an reason for soar to remain the way it is. I’m just waiting for blizzard to realize this.

If they were planning on adding it to 10.1.5 I feel like they would have said something or it would have been datamined. How long do they plan on having gimp soar in game for? Like the entire expansion? I mean no wonder the game hemorrhages subs, they just refuse to do what is right for the players.
