Evoker needs work

This has got to be the worst class in WoW. No matter what spec you’re in, it’s too squishy. I figure a mail wearer would last longer against multiple mobs. Might as well be a cloth wearer as to how fast they’re killed.

Are you talking PVP or PVE? Also what is your level and ilvl?

I run a dev evoker alt up through N Aberrus and aside from very early levelling in DF until I got some more talents, it’s a very well rounded and survivable class especially in soloplay.

I also have a level 62 or so Augvoker that I haven’t experienced much issues with either

I can’t speak on the PVP side of things though if that was your concern

Aug in particular seems extremely durable, at least in pve, though I’ve seen people complaining about how difficult to kill they are in pvp as well.

They aren’t passively tanky, just got to press the survivals, and dodge avoidables with hover.

I feel very squishy as devastation, somewhat squishy as perservation, but tanky as hell with augmentation. I’ve never been particularly great at PvP but augmentation feels like easy mode.

I’m still curious as to why we still have a 25-30 yard range on almost all of our abilities with nothing for compensation.

This part. Preservation is already coming into the conversation nerfed as far as I’m concerned because of this and it doesn’t really have anything to compensate for it.

If you’re talking PvE, evokers isn’t squishy once you have decent enemy knowledge. I say that because you have to preemptively use your defensive BEFORE big hits happen. It gets a lot easier as your gear increases.

This is either a troll post or something with no gear trying to face tank mobs.

Just heal yourself bro

Craft yourself a spore cloak

Aug is great for solo shuffle, its perhaps the less focused spec in the game, they’re very tanky.

Only 2 compensations found thus far:

Crippling Force Disintegrate amplifies Permeating Chill to reduce movement speed by an additional 5% each time it deals damage, up to 80%.

Hover Allows Evoker spells to be cast while moving.

Overwhelming success has been found with Crippling Force as the 25yd range can feel like 40yds when an enemy is unable to move due to an intense/potent Permeating Chill slow. Paladin Blessing of Freedom is a hard counter.

Hover - If you hard cast Living Flame or Disintegrate 1ms before Hover duration end, you will be allowed to continue hovering until the last hard cast of Living Flame or Disintegrate finishes. Gives extra Hover uptime.

Crippling force seems completely unnecessary with unburdened flight, which is a far more beneficial pvp talent

Crippling Force is an experimentation on spell distance efficiency. 25yds feels like a much larger gap when an opponent player is rp walking.

True, one could be taken over the other:
Unburdened Flight w/ no Crippling Force - kite gameplay.

Crippling Force w/ no Unburdened Flight - Hover becomes a “disengage” (Possibly a good idea to make a macro for Tail Swipe and Hover if it’s to become a “Hunter Disengage”).

Crippling force is an experimentation in wasting a pvp talent. It doesn’t work with azure strike, and permeating chill doesn’t even last long enough to last through spell lockouts or downtime between essence. I really don’t see a scenario where crippling force would ever be better than unburdened flight, and there are simply better pvp talents to take that render running both a complete waste.

Crippling Force in combination with Unburdened Flight is rather effective. Crippling Force, well, forces opposing players to use mobility cds.

During Frost Spell Lock:

Immediately Fire Breath Rank I for burnout stacks,

or

[Ancient Flame]
Verdant Embrace + Living Flame
Emerald Blossom + Living Flame,

or

Hover “Disengage”.

Hoping a rank 1 fire breath goes undispelled so you don’t lose out on 70% of its damage profile, instead of running scouring flame and max rank dispelling the entire enemy team seems like a terrible idea.

Going from hunter to evoker I actually feel a lot tankier. The ebon scales buff is up long enough and not that bad of a cd + the self healing is pretty damn good. Honestly I had to do so much just to not die to minor stuff as hunter. The big problem with hunter is their defensives are on such a long cooldown. Like yeah I can straight up immune most mechanics but then I have to wait 2.3-3 minutes to do that again, and my other defensives are pretty long too.

Very true, Obsidian Scales is a lasting CD (+2 of them, if talented). Burnout provides a massive amount of self-healing - Incredibly essential to use Rank I Fire Breath immediately, every 30 secs to sustain those Burnout stacks throughout fights in random battlegrounds.

I think that’s because hunters have the worst defensiveness in the game when it comes to anything where their pet cannot tank the damage for them.

Meanwhile evoker has a lot of good tools that are up regularly. It’s just that we struggle to take magical hits, and most damage is magical.
