Retail players that I am happy not to play with. PvP in SoD was the abosolute worst. Some of the most toxic players I’ve ever played with were in SoD - and I come from dota.
Lots of good pvp games in SoM - never had a single one in SoD.
You know, there’s a “non-public server” you might look into that definitely plays with these kinds of ideas. I think it’s a really fun concept that they do and what you’re suggesting might very well fit right in.
For me though, I’m here to play the official offering of Vanilla WoW, so I’d prefer it be kept reasonably close to how it was back then. That’s just the journey I’m on right now and I’m very much enjoying it
Did they really try to pitch that as the next SoD?
What the difference between a warlock tanking in a ugly-demon form and adding weird lizard people? Vanilla has a pretty distinct style and neither fit.
The one is SoD is like 30% too big, way too purple, and tbh is probably not the right ‘model’ for a caster turning into a demon tank. That’s like the illidan demon form, not something a noob in green should be casually turning on and sitting afk in SW.
It nearly feels like a disgrace to wc3 to have players casually have all that power. But that’s the SoD theme - give players more and more power until they realize its all meaningless. For most it only took 1 phase.
May as well write it here - please stop adding purple and overly-bright stuff to vanilla. The tones in vanilla aren’t really purple until naxx stuff and prob shouldn’t be touching gear with that power level anyways. Think of earth tones when adding new stuff, if you wouldn’t find it in some forest, or desert, or whatever on earth - it shouldn’t even be considered for any vanilla style modes.
I can’t say if another seasonal server would have new classes added or not to that seasonal server specifically as there were demon hunter, necromancer and death knight ideas that got scrapped in very early development of the game.
That said I would caution against excitement on this idea as those designs would have been extremely bare bones compared to the actual vanilla classes, it’d be “new” blizzard mostly working on these and retail class design is pretty meh.
I’d also say, that vanilla time walking was missing up to this point in retail, it’d be inevitable that it’d show up eventually and the new sets were made so that other classes didn’t feel left out. There’s no real reason to believe it’s a sign of the next season, It’s like looking up at the stars and seeing a boot in the constellations and taking that as meaning you need new boots.
No, when you see one of my posts mention the word boot, it’s means that it’s time for you to embark upon a spirit journey in which you ascend to the heavens and join the Bootes constellation as a new star, to replace one of the original, now fading stars.
This journey will be perilous but should you succeed you will be as immaculate as the heavens.
maybe the particles that make me up will complete it one day, but I think we are likely to remain quite close to our sun god for the foreseeable future.
