So from watching the alpha gameplay it seems like this will the play style of the Evoker class which I’m ok with. I always wanted a mage, they’re just so freaking tough to level.

You’re referring to wow mages right?
No matter what spec you play it’s literally two buttons and everything falls over to lvl

Mage is already tanky Mage.
Also Evoker needs to be mobile and/or durable to compensate for reduced range.
