I am sorry but no!!
We already have dk with tank spec, demon hunter with tank spec, and monk with a tank spec. Adding a tank spec won’t fix your low tank issues. So stop dragging envokers into this mess.
This is a caster. This is probably one of the most magic-oriented beings that can exist in azeroth right now. Leave the dragons alone. If a third spec comes in, it’s another NONE MELEE spec .
Summary:
First caster class in ages, leave it as range and should rightfully stay range. Blizz adding melee to this class is one feedback that should be ignored. Enough is enough.
edit:
Do you tanks realize that Healer specs are the lowest amount of the whole trinity? We should get more healers than anything else.
I can link a couple of different threads for you, but this isn’t about low tanks.
It’s about the race being completely unable to tank and most of us would rather just have more class options than co-opt Evoker from the ranged and heals.
The problem with that though is the hard line stance on both ends no other classes cuz lore and no tank spec because it doesn’t fit the class aesthetic.
This has lead to frustration from the subset of tanks who have really been looking forward for years to having a draconic race availble in game.
And that becomes exasperated by the fact with no change to the race’s options before 10.0 we are likely not going to get to fufill our class race fantasy for another 2-3 years.
It’s fair and fine to push other classes onto the dragon race. I would also love envokers to go to other races because I prefer elves. To me this is perfectly fine.
But some are using this to push their tank spec agenda onto envokers and that’s a hard NO!!
Leaving that said, keep envokers out of this. They are range period.
Redirect the energy on allowing the race to obtain multiple advance classes that can have tank spec. Like warrior, pal, druid, monk, dk, demon hunter, etc.
Just keep envokers out of it. Do t ruin this long awaited class for range and caster players like me.
I honestly think Evokers should stay as is. This they should be able to do all specs thing didn’t really crop up with Demonhunters and Death Knights not having healing or ranged specs. The problem honestly stems from people want to play the cool new race, but they want to play it in a role they prefer.
The problem is less Evoker, and more that the Dracthyr are locked to one class. On that I agree that it sucks.
Exactly, I did read that they might allow envokers to go to other races in general later down the line.
So I can see the community being able to push more than one class for dragon race as well. This would be a great addition imo. Imagine, druid dragon forms?? Or dragon theme totems. It’d it were up 2 me, I would do thiz for all races.
yeah but like I said before they aren’t talking this expac. So me maining a dragon is gonna be 2-3 years if nothing changes, if i’m still able to play, if I’m even around anymore to play. I have wanted this since we saw good drakonids back in Wrath and now to have to do it part time sucks.
Well, it’s not just tanks that will be in that boat. The Dracthyr are an amazing race, and lots of people want to play them. Problem is that since they can only be Evoker, you can only have so many in a raid comp. There are gonna be a lot of people who are essentially going to end up rolling a Dracthyr main, and prolly have to maintain an alt for raiding.
I get that them only having Evoker works from a lore standpoint, but they could have easily smushed in at least Druids, Warriors, and Mages in there too.
Warriors: Everyone can pick up a weapon and learn to use it.
Druids: Green Dragonflight are basically THE Druids. They can channel the Green. This isn’t a stretch.
Mages: Blue and Bronze Dragonflight are some of the best Mages on Azeroth.
And here’s the thing. Yeh, it doesn’t make sense for them to use the mortal version of those classes, but lorewise a lot of our races are using their own version of the classes. They just get shoved into the same base class because coming up with racial flavour for all the races would be pretty monumental. A Dragon Mage or Druid is prolly drawing on Draconic magics to do the same type of things we see mortal Mages and Druids doing. That could have been the justification. The classes would have still been super limited, but it would have given people more choice at least.
They should have a third spec that focuses on dots. We haven’t had a new dot spec in forever either.
Green dragons have poison abilities for offense, they aren’t just healing. Black dragons use magma, which sticks to things and continues to burn, sounds like a dot to me. Poison/magma dot spec let’s go.
I mean, don’t get me wrong. I love the idea of Evokers. It’s actually the kinda of class I love. Sad about losing my portals, but the class itself looks amazing. But I completely understand the people who prefer say, melee or tanking being sad. I would have been in the exact same boat if the class had been another melee/tank hybrid. I love the race enough that I would have played it, but it would have sucked playing a role I didn’t like even slightly just so I could play a race I loved.
I get what they’re doing. It’s the Dragon fantasy thing. Istaria had it too. Dragons have their own adventure class as well as their own crafting class separate from the normal races. Thing is that in that game they made the Dragon’s adventure class a sort of jack of all trades class to compensate. Basically they can do a bit of everything, but not quite as well as a Satyr who actually leveled a school dedicated for that. WoW wants to capture that feeling of being a Dragon, and I respect that and welcome it. But give players at least a little bit of choice.
I like Evokers as they are now, but they don’t fit with a race that can only JUST be them. I like the idea that they Dracthyr are created as a swift and athletic elite strike team, and that these are their natural abilities, but if you’re not going to give the class all three specs (and they shouldn’t be forced to), there should have been a few more concessions with class choice.
And again that might be fine if you could cover all the bases, but it can’t so while I would love to play as a tank desinged around being a dragon I can’t, since I main tank in a small guild where the roster and raid roster are close to identical, swapping mains means someone else can’t do it, I can be selfish enough for more options but not enough to take someone elses.
I honestly am PRO allow people to place their desired CLASS on desired Race. Especially since i only like to play with ELVES. At least the standard ones – not the allied ones.
Leaving that said, Envoker should remain what it is and not go melee just because people want to tank. NO, just NO.
Yes plz!
Don’t remind me. I wish they get rid of this boring SPENDER mechanic and just let the dots do its thing.
Nobody who was already going to tank seriously is going to now stop tanking because they want to rp as a dragon. And nobody who doesn’t want to tank is all of a sudden going to tank seriously if dragon people can be tanks.
This argument, like a lot of GD, is insane. Did Legion have a dps shortage because everyone was playing vengeance? Did we lose healers because a bunch of wod healers really wanted to double jump?
Adding a new tank spec is going to do BUBKIS to what the real problem is…
It’s the toxic community treating tanks like garbage that is the issue. And until we start being nicer to each other or Blizzard goes the way of Squeenix and crack down on hate, then we’re kinda screwed.
