Nerf shadowstrike a little bit and buff eviscerate. 5 combo point eviscerate does less damage than shadowstrike which is really dumb and not how rogue should play. In MoP, Eviscerate was the highest damage ability for rogue as it should be. This will also help balance the class out a bit because you can’t spam eviscerate but you can spam shadowstrike in shadowdance.
Talking about in PvP specifically, not in PvE content.
“at its best” can be somewhat subjective. Most people seem to be particularly fond of the Cata days, and in Cata a significantly greater percentage of our damage was in backstab/Ambush.
It shouldn’t be. Are you sure? Even with Shadow Blades active, it shouldn’t be. You are including Eviscerate’s 50% shadow damage, right? (The 50% shadow damage is separate in my damage meter. Might be in yours, as well.)
As Outlaw in PvE just trying to get to 60, I feel Eviscerate is a waste of CP.
By the time I get 5 CP, a single enemy is probably about 60%. Without a critical hit, Eviscerate won’t even kill it, and even if I do crit, sometimes the enemy is still alive. I miss the days when Eviscerate was this big thing, that you built up to, and dumped your CP into for big damage.
Nowadays, at least for Outlaw, we’re basically Feral Druids now, where we are expected to use most of our CP on buffs and debuffs rather than tearing our enemies apart. When it is finally time to Evisc something, you do this big dramatic SHLING! attack and… their HP meter barely moves. It feels like such a letdown.
Outlaw is supposed to be a swashbuckling fighter who uses swords, maces, and axes in melee combat, but yet killing anything as an Outlaw feels like I’m using daggers, you have to hit something dozens of times before it finally dies because apparently we hit like wet noodles or something. I feel like I’m swinging pool noodles around or something rather than a pair of swords.
Our finishers for all of our specs feel garbage, at least sub’s hit harder then the other two. We’ll only be getting % buff/nerf from now until the patch where hopefully they take a look at damage profiles and make changes there.
Like more poison/bleed damage, less AA on assassination, more finisher damage on sub etc.
