The problem with the AP grind is that it isn’t fun and it isn’t rewarding. What do you get for each of those HoA levels? A tiny increase to the ilevel of the HoA. yeah.
It would be different if your character was having their stats doubled every 10 HoA levels but that simply isn’t the case.
Or if you were always gaining new and amazing and super powerful new skills/spells with each new skill/spell being better and more useful than the last.
This is pure BS. 6 heroic islands is only a couple thousand AP which translates to just a couple of HoA levels. The quests and WQ give a pittance of AP.
A world tour of world quests gives you around 4k a day. It DOES add up for doing meaningless tasks. Especially since assault world quests roll AP often and those are usually 350-ish AP each.
4 heroic islands is 900 AP, plus the weekly means 3.4k total, if you’re lucky enough to get the AP bonus mission (which i was twice) thats around another 3.5k if you get the bonus reward, 2k if you don’t.
As i said above the war campaign is around 10k AP total and the amount of azerite from world quests adds up to around 3k per day on average, not including the invasions if you are on for those. Then there is a minimum 400 ap on top of that for the emmisarys, 1900 if its an AP reward day.
If you’refaction is doing contributions for the warfronts thats another 1500 a day fpr about a week, and i got one after the other.
Its around 120k AP from 1-50 atm i believe, or somewhere around that. The time investment is extremely low at this point.
I thought eventually they would make it account wide. This really kills my enthusiasm to play alts. They want us to play more alts it seems with allied races, but adding time to leveling on top of AP grinds really burns me out. And I used to play this game for 6-8 hours a day. I only have 2 alts who are around 40+ ap, and that whole system really discourages me from playing alts.
Your neck piece will auto level to 35 so you have access to the major trait slot. It happens on all characters so may as well call it account wide.
To level up your trait, there is some grind but the most powerful version comes from the harder content, I believe. So you can aim for that I guess if you dont want to grind AP.
I got my neck to 50, but it was because I was chasing other goals that just happened to reward AP as well.
All my alts neck are woefully low, but to be honest I dont care. It will only be a problem if for some reason I decide to switch mains and need to gear one of them up,
If you want it, here it is, come and get it
Mm mm mm mm, make your mind up fast
If you want it, any time, I can give it
But you’d better hurry 'cause it may not
Last…
In Legion I tried to max out every alt every tier, but that was a one-time thing - I don’t expect I’ll ever push an AP curve like that again.
I’m at the point where I’m spread so thin I’m not even completing the WQ week “20 world quests” quest and as a result, most of my alts have stagnated around 45.
