Everyones perception on shadowlands shaman?

I started playing shaman in legion so I cant speak on iterations before that but always found it fun.

Now its losing maelstrom, how does everyone feel about that? I dont even know what to imgaine the playstyle will be now, I need to watch some vids.

I always though that Maelstrom was designed for ENH and worked into ELE but never really fit. Felt really off after playing it in WoD but then again I was really bad at it then.

I can’t speak in a large portion to restoration. I’ll say I’m glad resto doesn’t have maelstrom, and I’m glad to see it removed on elemental. However, I think it fits well with enhance and it needs more work and design. Unhappy with how enhance is going forward in Shadowlands.

Resto will be similar to what we have now, with a couple extra tools.

With the changes to Ele and Enh, I feel it’s largely unfinished, but would consider the stacks to act in a similar manner as our current resources.

Ele and Enh are mostly in (I sincerely hope) a still unfinished state.

I enjoyed what I’ve seen so far. I personally am getting more comfortable with it but that initial switch took me a little bit to understand and connect what I’m playing to what I was reading and I’ve yet to play with Ascendance, Ele blast, or Icefury to really gauge how I feel about the entire thing as a whole.

On paper, it seems like they are moving towards Enhance’s playstyle in Cataclysm and Elemental’s playstyle in WoD.

In reality it’s far from it’s past iterations. From a PvP pov, Astral shift is still trash and both Ele & Enhancement need shamanistic rage back. They also need to look at bringing back Stoneclaw Totem’s absorb shield for both the players and Totems

Enhance’s mobility is heavily reliant on Ghost Wolf and it feels incredibly clunky compared to Cataclysm’s play style where we had Earthen Power(Earth bind totem dispelled slows and snares) and Spirit Walk granted immunity to Roots and Snares for the full duration of it’s buff.

Grounding is still a PvP Talent rather than Baseline for some reason?

We lack a reliable root that isn’t talented, I really wish they’d bring Frozen Power and allow Frost Shock to root someone 15yrds away like it used to. I felt old Frozen Power was a very unique mechanic and allowed for some smart plays by Shamans.

And this is just a few things off the top of my head. Maelstrom was a terrible mechanic, but the removal of this resource would be a good opportunity to bring back the more successful iterations of Shaman in the past.
