Who got canned today besides Brack and the HR guy?
Maybe ion didn’t do anything?
He was the one in charge. He was a failure as a leader. Don’t feel bad for him. He will get a giant payout.
pretty much the way I see it also , + 1
Then you haven’t been paying attention.
Hardly. The state of California will be out to get the biggest fish they can get. Such is the way with adversarial venues. Which would obviously include Ion as either witness under subpoena or as co-defendant (provided the lawyers for the state thought they could make that case stick). However, as you pointed out his area of expertise being large scale investigations at the very company retained will give him insight into the process that Blizzard might not have available to them (even though WH is on their team) and perhaps that is why they retained WH in the first place because they had a ready to order liaison between them and WH on staff all the time. Makes it easier to bury the bodies if you have an inside source that knows both the legal niceties and the inner workings of Blizzard and is a position of authority at Blizzard. Then with O’Neal and Ybara who are still getting their sea legs that makes his position much more…interesting than just a Game Director.
Oh, he has done quite enough, or not enough depending on your point of view.
Recall it was Ion and Afrasaibi’s idea to announce that there would be no flying in 6.2 or in future patches going forward.
Not assigning Ion any blame he doesn’t deserve, but perhaps the dragnet has not swept far enough to tangle Ion in it? It is not as if Ion were a babe, innocent and free of guilt. Ion has done things for which Karma still has not settled the debt. Would heavily advise anyone not to hitch their wagon to that particular falling star just yet. Friday is a long way away.
Do you not?
Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown and of course and most relevant,
No king rules forever my son.
Liquid waste flows directly down hill. The flow may not have reached there yet.
If he didn’t do anything wrong why can him? Yeah you don’t like his game design that’s fine, but he still didn’t do anything where being fired is a course of action.
I don’t want him fired, I just want him repositioned back to doing raid content.
Well thank God Asmongold agrees.
A thought just occurred to me. What if it were Ion (lawyer that he used to be) that suggested J. Allen Brack become Activision Blizzard’s Sacrificial Lamb? And aren’t they ready tomorrow at 4:00pm EDT going to have their quarterly conference call? Mighty handy not to have to produce a potential witness to investors who might have a different opine than Bobby Kotick’s might’n it ?
Someone complicit is not a sacrificial lamb.
Well why would he, the people getting let go or leaving are related to the law suit. Last time I checked, he wasn’t part of that.
I’m fairly certain Ion did a lot to give us MoP. If we can just put blinders on him and dangle a panda in front of him I think WoW will be saved.
Judas goat then. The effect is still the same especially if Bobby was not sure of how Brack would respond on the investor call and perhaps Ion made mention of that in an email somewhere?
I don’t think any of this had any impact on the Q2 call.
His Twitter is private, so I am not going to give the name, but this summation of the investors:
"“Nice quarter guys.”
Just let that sink in. The rich don’t care. Never have. Never will."
You just making stuff up now.
