Everyone should get equal gear in PVP

Yeah nah, you’re right, I’m just crying because I don’t like it, and don’t see why it is this way.

No. They’ve already tried this before and it was horrible, the majority of the playerbase BEGGED them to change it back and they did. The current gear system is the best it has ever been, you are able to start off immediately on a somewhat equal footing while still having room to progress.
On another note, I find it really funny to see alot of suggestions from players that have already been tried and reverted for various reasons, not just this one. Like I saw a post advocating for simplifying talents and skills hahaha.

Yeah, I honestly think it’s a questionable part of the community, it doesn’t make sense that you want a gear advantage in PvP, it makes me hesitant to even start because I don’t want to lose to bigger numbers.

ive made this thread many times

the sad truth is people like the gear imbalances and lopsided games

idk why, but hey to each their own

It’s crazy, one of the main reasons for people to continue playing the game and they make it more inaccessible, well money talks.

I got level 80 this weekend and two evenings later I was fully geared

yeah

getting gear isnt the problem

the problem is when u get a 400k hp healer or two put on your team, they get 2shot all game and do less healing than the mage who defended farm all game

thats why people hate gear in pvp. not the gear acquisition itserlf

You can already ding 80 into half PvP epics, between bloody token & crafted gear.

Personally, I think putting everyone on a totally equal playing field removes a bit too much of the RPG nature of the game.

That said, the main distaste for it comes from Legion’s poorly conceived template system where we couldn’t even customize secondary stats, so I’m sure a system with better customization options would be less reviled.

Yes, this was bad.

I find this current system of gearing really nice, possibly even the best we have had.

Although, I must say, the simplicity of WoD PVP gearing was really nice too.

No… it’s an MMO progression is part of the game. There are lots of games that have what you want. Go play those.

You shouldn’t have to put in effort is what you are saying…

Too bad we can’t take a trip back to shadowlands.
I could show you how terrible it was compared to what we have now.

That was the ABSOLUTE worst the game has ever had lol. Rating gated gear was the dumbest idea they ever had.

  1. If I like the gameplay of WoW, I don’t have a choice.

  2. The reward for winning doesn’t have to be gear. Why do you need that, to win harder next time?

To Lastarria: Even back in Lich King, 2008 they had rating gated gear.

You get conquest, honour and bloody tokens without needing to win. Do PVP, and you get gear for PVP

And got rid of it by MoP. I think PVE gear was actually more common in those days too no?

That was a long time ago, and I did not play so seriously back then.

I’d actually say the rating gated gear of WotLK was overall a stroke of brilliance insofar as facilitating ladder participation.

The ratings required scaled very smoothly to reward incremental improvement, and were realistically obtainable by anyone for the most part. Only thing I’d have changed was removing the T2 weapon to better level the playing field. (Well, aside from PvE gear needing a nerf.)

Yeah, you’re right, participation for the wrong reasons lol. Imagine if football players got better boots for winning the premiers. There would be an outrage.

They made the game more fun and people participate.

Also, people participate for different reasons. Some like gearing, some like rating, some like titles, some like PVP, some like transmog. All those reasons are the right ones too.
