Usually the hype around other MMOs is happening when they launch. FFXIV is not new and didn’t just release any content. Those that swapped and stayed call it a hidden gem, or something to that effect.
It’s in your face as much as it is right now because a lot of WoW streamers and content creators are all trying it out.

It varies from person to person. I’m hooked and if wow doesn’t improve and I become invested in FF it’s gonna be hard for me to come back to wow.
For me personally, the hype is real.

Games legit, it feels like a living, breathing fantasy world
Tried it several times and made it to the 30’s and the world felt very dead. Can’t even make myself play even though I’m within the free trial. That world just does not hold my interest.
Nothing against people that do enjoy it.

It is. It’s free to play for a month, so…
I don’t think so. I never played those games but I saw them. They looked overrated and it turns out that was right.

It’s free to play for as long as you want it. The only limitations (besides chat-based for trial accounts, same as WoW) are that you can only get to level 60 with all classes, but that will give you the full version of A Realm Reborn along with the critically acclaimed expansion Heavensward
.
For a lot of people that’s going to be more than enough time necessary to get a good feel for the game and determine if whether or not you like it.

Isn’t that the big allure of GW2?
only you can decide if a game is good.
it actually melts my brain how much people crave the acceptance of others.
Imagine not doing somthing you love because a few ppl say its dumb lol
Weak
I dont even know why i come on the forums sometimes, i think i forget that most people who religiously watch streamers and play games are shut-ins who are litteraly incappable of forming thier own opinions
