Every time Llarold writes a guide on wowhead

…And calls a skill or talent “bad” I just want to take him aside, and gently whisper in his ear “it’s for pvp, you dingus.

The entire soulbind mikanikos tree is for pvp. It’s for. Pvp. The fall damage reduction, the reduced cc soulclamps, the aoe knockback. It’s for pvp, specifically, for bgs and wpvp. These are not for tanking m+ instances, Llarold, they are for pvp.

Thank you for coming to my ted talk.

Dang. Slow it down. Too much heat.

Why would we ever want regular talents designed for PvP though? They have three dedicated slots.

You use… all of your talents… in pvp…

You mean those wowhead guides that are PvE focused and don’t even mention the existence of PvP most of the time? That list a M+ and Raid talent build as the only two kinds of talent builds their guides are talking about?

Why wouldn’t they call a talent that’s bad for PvE bad if that’s what the guide is written about?

Because it’s misleading to hand-wave call an entire covenant soulbind spec “awful” because you don’t pvp. It’s misleading and discouraging to newcomers looking for information and it dowplays the effectiveness of our class and spec in roles other than M+ tanking. Brewmasters are incredibly good in BGs. We are excellent line-pushers that can singlehandedly tank Ashran and push the alliance surge back with a good healer on us. And to call that “awful” is going to turn new players away from brewpvp.

Nothing here says “oh this tree is your pvp tree, don’t worry about it for pve content” it just calls it bad. Just like he calls every every pvp BFA azerite trait and ability. Llarold doesn’t pvp, so his misleads brewmasters in his guides and it’s super frustrating.

These guides are made for the average leyperson. The statement “This is for PvP” is more meant to be interpreted as “Use this in PvP, since it excels there.”

But that’s the whole point. He never says “this is for pvp”. He just says “this skill / talent / item / tree is trash” when it happens to actually be very good for pvp. It would be much more helpful for the average layperson to instead say “this tree is for pvp” and not “this tree is just trash”

I think you’re underestimating people’s intelligence. If they wanted a PVP guide then they’d look for a PVP guide…

I main a tank, if anything I live a life of self-punishment by over-estimating ability.

Except there aren’t any PvP guides for BrM.

I get that guides written on major sites like Wowhead and Peak of Serenity always discuss BrM from a PvE angle. But it’s still a pet peeve of mine when I see them saying something is trash -from their perspective- that I know is good in PvP.

So I get what Luup is saying.
